Decided I needed some excitement in my life, get away from the stress and whatnot, take up an exciting sport.

Anyways, Any tips of price range to start out on? I know the saying is you get what you pay for, so i'll take that into mind, but what are some good brands to begin with?

  1. First off, don't listen to a single word that "domlococokills" kid said.  Burton and Forum are the most advertized, most commercialized, most common in a sporting goods store brands.  That does not in ANY way make them the "best".  And NEVER buy a first board online, unless you've had a hands-on with it in person and know exactly what you're getting.

Second, h**l yes man!! I'm excited that you're taking on the slopes!  Though it will be frustratinig at first, you will absolutely love riding once you "get it", and it will be that perfect stress relief and excitement you are looking for:-)

But seriously, dude, don't buy before you ride.  If at all possible, borrow a buddy's board, or if you have to, rent.  I know it's not the "coolest" thing to do, but you really need to figure out what you're looking for in your equipment before you buy, and you can't figure that out without at least hitting the slopes a couple times.  I probably know 30-40 riders that learned on borrowed boards, and they all have different styles/abilities/physiques etc that they would not have known about if they hadn't gotten out and learned first.

And if you can ride a few different boards your first season, you'll know exactly what you want in no time.  But seriously, don't buy the hype on boards.  There is absolutely nothing wrong with burton or forum or ride or any of those, but you never know, you just might be made for a "never summer" or a "lib tech" or some make I've never heard of:-)

Oh yeah, you can also ask your local sporting goods store or pro shop if they have any "demo" gear.  They often have different makes and models available to demo than they do to rent.  It's always worth checking,

    have a blast Bro!!!!!!!

  2. Dont worry you will really suck at first

  3. burton and forum are the best of the best. be careful tho your stress relieving new hobby is also very dangerous and it is extremely easy to severly hurt yourself. as for what to buy. i would shop around on ebay for maybe some good deals to get you started, also try ccs.com theyre the best site to get stuff. hope it helps!
