Snowboarding Vs. Skiing?

Question

Which is harder to learn? I am going to Colorado Later this year and was wondering. But the fact is I already can skateboard really well and maybe thought that would make snowboarding a lot easier.

go for snowboarding it took me only one time down the slope and i got the hang of it. the first you have trouble standing and getting balance but it is soooo fun to do i cant wait till it snows this year so i can get back on the slopes. last year was my first time. you will have fun plus you can skateboard so that will make it easier for you.

i think snowboarding is easier... i did snowboarding first, then my mom made me ski, and personaly i think it sucked... and was kinda hard...

Snowboarding Is quite a lot harder to learn (skateboarding will make it a bit easier)  but is easier to master, and skiing is was easier to learn, but quite a lot harder to get good at, so if you wanna stick with it and feel good about it, choose snowboarding, if you  wanna stick with skiing, after a while it'll feel like you're not getting any better, plus, with snowboarding, you only have to worry about one thing (the snowboard) in stead of four with skiing (poles and skis)

Snowboarding is hard to learn easy to master but skiing is easy to learn hard to master. Skateboarding helps a bit, but it really isn't the same. I picked up skateboarding to get my summer fix and they really are very different. The only thing that's going to be easier is moving around with your back foot unstrapped [skating].

I think that skiing is easier the first day but snowboarding is a lot more fun. The first day of snowboarding is kinda hard and you bruise your butt a lot, but it is MUCH easier the next day and a lot of fun. Since you skateboard, I think snowboarding would be REALLY easy for you.

Nonsense to those that say snowboarding is harder. It is actually easier to learn the basics - it is just harder to get REALLY good and master all the different techniques.

I agree that snowboarding is much more fun. In the 10 years I have been riding, I rarely put on skiis any more.

Many students that I've taught that have known how to skateboard have learned to ride very quickly - it may be the skateboarding or it may be that they were young and very athletic.

snowboarding is harder to learn than skiing and skateboarding has no influence on snowboarding.

skiing is fun if you actually know how to do it and can get air off jumps and do tricks. it is also fun to get a lot of speed on skis. if you ski, you wont have to worry so much about falling.

snowboarding on the other hand is fun once you get used to it, even if you dont go off jumps. the only thing is that you fall a lot, and it gets frustrating after a while if its your first time.

what is everybody else in your group doing? if everyone is skiing and you are snowboarding, then they will have to wait for you to take off your binding at the bottom and put it on at the top.  that gets boring for skiiers and sometimes they will ditch you (thats the way it is with my group, i dont know about yours)

the basics of both is easy to learn. Its the mastering that makes it hard.

I thought snowboarding was pretty easy for me. I took a short lesson, learned how to turn, glide, stop and i was pretty much good to go. I think you should try snowboarding since its kind of like skateboarding.

I know how to ski too, but i had a hard time stopping and turning. It was easy to learn though.

Skiing is easier but if you can skateboard already then snowboarding will be a piece of cake
