Looking to take a short vacation in the snow. Can either do California (Tahoe, Mammoth or Big Bear) or could go to Utah (Park City)... husband wants to snowboard for the first time, 3 yr old son has never been in the snow. We'll need rentals too. Looking for recommendations.

  1. VAIL dude...

  2. I am going to Kirkwood / Lake Tahoe in 2 weeks - right now Kirkwood has a base of about 130" and got almost 300" of new powder in January alone.  With that much powder now they should have a pretty decent base for quite a while.

  3. Mammoth Mountain, they keep getting dumped with huge storms.

  4. Park City is awesome, the Canyons is a great place to learn snow boarding.  I was in Tahoe last March and it was ok until a storm rolled in and then it was awesome.  For the family environment, Park City is probably a little more favorable.

  5. I would suggest Utah. The snow here is great it is said that we have the greatest snow on earth. There are a lot of rental places around where you can rent. Park City is a really nice city. There is a lot of snow here in Utah and we keep getting new storms it seems like every other day or so.
