Question:

Snowboarding in Europe during the summer?

Is there anywhere in Europe where it snows all year round? I have read about glacier snowboarding, but I'm really looking for somewhere with a high probability of having fresh snow.

The latest I can go is 8th October, anything around this time?

Thanks!

  1. Try Norway.... there should be lots of snow there

  2. Although there are plenty of glaciers in France, Austria etc, the likelihood of fresh snow is slim. The snow on the European glaciers is essentially the same snow that fell the previous winter that never melted. That's why it's a bit like  corn - the snow starts to melt every day, and then freezes up again at night. It's still enjoyable, but in the main the runs are short and the variety of runs is limited.

The best glacier is Tignes in France,

The good news is that over the last few seasons we have had early snow at altitude, so there's a good chance you may get some in early October

  3. You can go summer skiing in Tignes (France's highest skiable glacier), from mid June to early September.

Fresh snow, well not really. Skiing, as you probably know can be really good or not so. The snow is often a bit wet, especially in the early afternoon. But it worth it, it's a fun holiday, and the alps are amazing.

There are some other places you can go, but Tignes is one of the better ones for summer skiing.
