  1. I like mammoth. it snows ALOT, but i wudnt go now, cuz theres kind of a snow storm, and it might be hard to get up there. (we just came down from there and we wouldnt hav made it if we didnt have four weel drive) there are really good places to snowboard and ski there.

  2. Just Curious. Why is everyone talking about Mammoth? It is obviously the best but is not part of this question. I too want to know what is better between Big Bear and Mountian High though.

  3. Without a doubt, Mammoth is infinitely superior to any place in Big Bear (Snow Summit/Bear Mountain) or Wrightwood (Mountain High West/East).  I don't know why there's any disagreement in the responses unless they haven't been to Mammoth (and hence don't know what they're talking about).

Mammoth is about FIVE TIMES BIGGER in ski-able area than the largest resort in Southern California (Bear Mountain), and bigger than all of them combined.  It has FIVE lodges on the mountain, and even a gondola lift that takes you straight into the town shopping center/restaurant row.  Each lodge makes anything in SoCal look positively rinky-dink.  It is also much higher, peaking at 11,053 feet.  When you ride the gondola lift to the top of the mountain, it really looks like a European high alpine mountain, with spindrift blowing off of cornices over high drops and rocky chutes that'll have you wondering how many people have died there.  It is a world-class resort, which cannot be said for anything in SoCal.

Transworld Snowboarding magazine (the most popular snowboarding magazine in the world at 1.38 million subscribers, compare to Snowboarding magazine at hundred thousand subscribers) named Mammoth Mountain as having the best terrain park.  Ski magazine often lists Mammoth within the annual top 10 of the world's best ski resorts.

I mean, could there possibly be any question as to the correct response to "which is the best place to snowboard at"?

Beyond the scope of the original question... the primary downside to Mammoth is that it's a 5-6 hour drive from either LA or SF.  It's iffy as a day trip, but killer if you plan on staying two or more days.

  4. There is a lot better snow in Mammoth

  5. Mammoth is the best, but for me its too far away. I like Big Bear for a shorter distance.

  6. mammoth is by the best but it's also the furthest away from socal, i would say big bear is the best if distance and gas is on your mind. plus we just had a storm last weekend so the snow should be really good

  7. Big Bear its freakin huge

  8. ill  be at mountain high tomorrow. ha

  9. try big bear

    i think its alot better,

    and alot nicer,

  10. I've always gone to Big Bear to snowboard.  Its Friggen Awsome.
