Snowboarding in the rain?

I've snowboarded many times before but never when rain has been in the forecast. Does anyone still board when it's raining out or is my weekend shot?

  1. i've seen rain at the bottom and half way up the lift it changed to snow...watch the temps--if its bordering around the low 30's than it'll probably change to snow towards the top

  2. The last time I rode in the rain was the spring of 2004 at Winter Park.  A transformer got hit by lightning and killed power to most of the lifts, and there were about 5000 skiers stuck on the mountain.  There were people walking out of the little gullies all over the mountain looking for a way down.  It was hilarious.

  3. I boarded in the rain 3 weeks ago...no bueno ..it was borderline on the temp. at 35 it was wet snow in the morning then the top of the mountain had snow and about noon it was all rain. the ground gets real slushy and its very cold when your all wet and its in the 30's..also its hard to see your goggles get all wet. so you can do it but I did not have a great time. on the plus side its not as crowded.

  4. It depends on your area, in the west coast, rain happens on a regular basis. We won't waste our few days on slope by staying home.  I heard that many of the Utah resorts do not operate in the rain.  In the Seattle area, rain is normal.

  5. ive skiied in the rain before. its not too bad actually its much less crowded. all i know is that i was soaked afterwards

it actually didnt hurt my face like on roller coasters when its raining.

oh and i was with snowboarders and they snowboarded longer than i skiied so i think it will still be a good shot to go :)
