  1. If you're going to ski, then the converse is the way to go.  Maybe for snowboarding too, but off the wall is the way to go for snowboarding.

  2. what do you mean? If you mean just walking up to the resort, then converses should be OK, but usually they advise you to wear snow boots. These can be bought at Target, REI, practically any store selling clothes. When the mountain is slippery, you won't get much traction and might slip and fall. On your trip, you should bring multiple things, the amount depends on the weather and number of days you go skiiing/snowboarding. Mainly, you will want to bring three layers of clothing for skiing. The first should be long underwear. Look for a synthetic fiber - usually polyester - that can "wick," or move sweat away from you skin. Then you want a middle layer. This will be your insulation layer, including turtlenecks, sweatshirts, sweaters, and pullovers. Popular materials include fleece and wool. For me, if I know that the weather is pretty good and isn't that cold, I wear a Tee with a long sleeve over. If it is cold, I wear a turtle neck with a shortsleeve under and a sweatshirt. Finally, the outer layer is usually pants and a jacket, which should block wind and repel snow and sleet. You should also bring: hat or headband, googles, waterproof gloves/mittens, helmet, sunscreen at least SPF 30, and sunglasses. Remember to pack long socks not ankle socks and bring extras incase they get soaked. This is a list of the basic things to bring on your trip especially for skiing.
