I'm going snowboarding this winter out west.

I've been skiing since I was like 3 ( i'm 16) I hope i can convert,

however i was wondering if snowboarding is anything whatsoever like wakeboarding in the balancing aspect because i have done that before, and was quite good at it.

thankss <33

  1. Snowboarding is similar to wakeboarding however, to me it seems it is harder to wakeboard because you are getting pulled and its harder to stop. I think you will get the hang of it right away though.

  2. snowboarding is similar but it could mess u up in waking boarding or boarding really the only difference is when u wake board your weight is on the back foot mostly when you snowboard almost all the weight is on the front

  3. All board sports do have some similarities and the balance might help but the two are pretty different.

In wakeboarding you are being pulled forward by the rope and use different muscle groups to keep yourself up and control your movement over the water. On a snowboard it's the gravity and hill direction that dictate how you move and it's a different force to work with.

Since you've skiied and are pretty athletic (it sounds like) you should pick it up pretty quick and I'd recommend getting a lesson to hook you up with the basics and get you running. It takes a day or two to get comfortable with the board and how it moves but then after that you should be golden.

  4. i would say wakeboarding is 10 times harder than snowboarding but thats just my opinion you will probably do well but not as good as me lol. jp

  5. They are somewhat similar. But with that said, they are different also, haha. In wakeboarding you put a lot of weight on your back foot since you're being pulled forward and in snowboarding it's a little more evenly distributed.

Also there's much more changing around as far as which foot is steering since in snowboarding you are constantly moving back and forth.

hope that helped a little! It sounds like you'll be fine (after you fall a few times maybe ;)
