So, I am taking my first skydiving class tomorrow!

I will be completing ground school, and probably my first non-tandem jump. (3rd jump including tandems.)

I'm psyched. Has anyone else taken their AFF before? What is it like? How long did it take you to get licensed? I am hoping to complete this in less than a week, since I have a few days off.

What can I do to be fully prepared for this? Thanks! : )

  1. I did AFF about three years ago.  You'll learn a lot in a short time.  There is a lot of information to pick up.  You'll go over gear, canopy control, landing patterns, free fall skills and most importantly emergency procedures.  The jumps are set up to help you learn two basic skills, altitude awareness and how to survive a skydive.  Once you finish AFF work with Coaches to learn how to fly!

The best thing to do to be ready for AFF is to well rested, no party the night before, have a good breakfast and be willing to ask questions and listen.  Learn like you'll live forever, live like you'll die tomorrow.

You can complete the jumps in less than a week.  I didn't, but that was a money issue for me.  I did the 7 levels in 8 jumps and earned my A license soon after.  I now have about 400 jumps and the USPA Coach Rating.  I've jumped in 6 states at 8 different dropzones.  You'll get into the sport for the rush and stay in it for the people.

Enjoy the jumps!  There is nothing better in this world than skydiving!

    Blue Skies!!!
