Last night at the Republican convention, that seemed to be the attitude they wanted to drive home. My way or the highway, which is why I believe that most Americans are not included in the Republican philosophy and they only care about us at the Polls but not in our Lives.

  1. What has bothered me lately with the Republican party is their monopoly on the American Flag. If you don't have a lapel or you don't say some thing correct then you are unpatriotic. But that logic only applies to non republicans.

  2. Republican = evil.

d**n if only the rest of the world could vote in the american presidential election, McCain wouldnt stand a chance.

  3. Not true I'm a Democrat but my party has been hi-jacked by the loony extreme liberal .Joe Lieberman is a true Democrat such as Franklin D Roosevelt but both parties have strayed from there roots conservatives aren't conservative at all and Democrats aren't a reflection of my views at all.neither party evan cares at all about us americans anymore i don't care for Bush but i don't like Obama i don't trust either man!McCain and Biden have been politicians to long i don't care for there brand of experience!bottom  line i have no-one!!

  4. of course not everyone believes i something so yah

  5. They didn't even talk about policy last night, how did you come up with that?

  6. Forget what they think; those who are not Republican are VERY much patriotic.

That's one of the many things I personally cannot stand about Republicans. No wonder their party is dead.

  7. The Republican convention to me was a history lesson on McCain and repetition about honour & patriatism (it almost seemed like the Republicans believed they had exclusive rights to it.)

  8. Well, Fred Thompson can't be very patriotic either, because he wasn't wearing his lapel flag. Wonder if Ailin' will have hers? I didn't notice if Lieberman had on one because I was too busy watching those Cowardly Lion jowls and hearing "Willie" from Alf in my head...

  9. The republicans have run this platform for years now, I am amazed that it works for them.  This country was founded on freedom, part of which allow criticism.  Iraq was never a threat to my freedom, so being told I am now safer because of all the money and blood spent does not sit well with me.

slaol121:  "love for or devotion to one's country"

that is correct, the rest after that you added on, and is not the definition of Patriot.

  10. Country first is the theme, not Republican first as you imply.

Now that our military is winning in Iraq, shouldn't Democrats be happy that we've improved our security by keeping Iraq from becoming a terrorist state complete with oil funds?

    Yet only Republicans mention it.

Our lives are deeply impacted by oil prices.  Isn't it ironic that the day that President Bush repealed the 'no drilling' policy of the white-house and urged Congress to do the same that the oil prices began to drop and have dropped 30% since even without drilling?

You can be patriotic without being a republican.  Joe Lieberman is a good case in point.  But at least put some thought into how you dissent.

  11. It's disgusting how low the republicans stoop. I think it's desperation at this point.

  12. They are creating the new hitler youth only they don't worship a insane leader they worship the almighty dollar and big corporations. They believe if you give the rich and corporations all they want some wealth will trickle down. Well, all I see is the rich drinking expensive wine and pissing down on the rest of us. This has been tried for over 20 years and never worked. Yet Mccain can bring us change even if he did vote with bush 90% of the time in the last few years.

  13. No it's the opposite

America was founded on LIBERAL values: social equality etc.

  14. Simple math:  Not being a Republican does not equal unpatriotic.

However, the "my way or the highway" attitude is being displayed by the Democrats, not the Republicans.  DNC Keynote speaker Mark Warner mentioned bipartisan efforts during his speech and was instantly blasted by virtually every prominent delegate at the convention.  They made it very clear that they were not interested in working with the people across the aisle.  What's really going on here in the minds of Democrats is a power struggle, and they want the power.  Forget working with Republicans; they want to gain The Oval Office and a greater majority in the House and Senate so they can ram their views and policies down the collective throats of all Americans.

So who REALLY only cares about John and Jane Q. Public at the polls and not in their everyday lives?

  15. No, it just means you are a little pinko

  16. that's what they seem to imply

  17. No it does not.We will not always agree on what we want our government to do but that does not mean that a person is unpatriotic. If you are not willing to stand with your country during a crisis  such as a time of war could be unpatriotic.

  18. -PATRIOTISM-

    Pronunciation:

    \ˈpā-trē-ə-ˌti-zəm, chiefly British ˈpa-\

    Function:

    noun

    Date:

    circa 1726

: love for or devotion to one's country

    --------------------------------------...

According to this definition, if you are against the country and those who defend it, you cannot call yourself a patriot of the United States of America -- you may be a Patriot of something else, but not the USA.

This applies to both Democrats and Republicans.

  19. Toucher!

  20. Both parties are pretty manipulative.  Who needs individuality when you have political parties and religion?
