Interesting that Bush was condemned for not going, but Obama thinks he's righteous in not going.

Does that bother anyone?

  1. Obama is not president and the hurricane hasn't hit yet.

There is no disaster as of right now. Bush needs to make sure they are prepared after the Katrina debacle.

  2. Bush is condemned no matter what he does, even though it was the local government's responsibility. Obama on the other hand doesn't walk his talk when it doesn't fit his marketing strategy.

  3. Noticed how Obama didn't mention that McCain and Palin were going to Mississippi at the invitation of the Governor of that state.

Either way no one should be making a political issue of Gustav, unless the various governments and agencies s***w up. then they should be held accountable

  4. Actually, if I were Obama and McCain, I would go to one of the shelters to meet with the people trying to flee vs. going to where the hurricane will hit.  My goal would be to help the Red Cross officials get these people comfortable.  AND, I would assemble a few tractor trailers of food and clothing for these people.  Heck, McCain is wealthy beyond belief and Obama is not hurting either.

Or, put some games into that tractor trailer for the kids.

And, if these guys do not want to get involved at the shelters, at least state that these people are in their thoughts and prayers.  As someone who lives in FL, I understand how crazy and devastating these storms can be.

Actually, I think that a second question should be posed on Yahoo Answers...

How many of you will be helping the people who will be devastated by Gustav?

I remember this one woman on TV leaving New Orleans with her kitty.  She was really upset that her kitty was being kept with the ASPCA of New Orleans vs. going with her.  My heart was bleeding for this woman because she had lost her home to Katrina.  Now, she might lose what little she has recovered since Katrina.

All we can worry about is where McCain & Obama will be?  That is what bothers me...is the lack of emotion shown to these people that are having to evacuate New Orleans.

  5. No, what bothers me is that McCain is trying to use this storm as a political issue by going down there and campaigning in a potential disaster zone.

Obama is doing the right thing. Since he isn't president, he's using his email list to raise money for relief efforts.

  6. Bush is not going to the area because he doesn't want to intefere with rescue efforts, and yet you criticize Obama for doing the same thing?

McCain is going to make things worse in the area by going, why doesn't he follow Bush and Obama's example? He's using this as a political agenda because he's only interested in becoming President.

    McCain first, Country second.

  7. I agree with him Mc Cain is taking all those cameras, body guards and reporters to intrude on the people with problems. Bush is the president and he is responsible for the country, have you forgotten that?

  8. Typical reply by Obama!  He will send his followers to the area while he sits on higher ground.   He is NOT in this race for the PEOPLE, he's in it for himself.    He's on a short fuse that is about to explode.

This is how they will react if they get in office.   Unlike McCain/Palin they will get involved and this is who we need in the White House.

    McCain/Palin

  9. Why should either go?

Everyone living there is getting out.

    It's dangerous.

Yes, Bush. How DARE you use you brain.

  10. He is not President. He could only cause more problems there.

  11. Neither one should go.  They would just be in the way.

  12. He's the senator of Illinois, what's he doing in New Orleans before a cat 4 hurricane hits?

  13. Obama is a self centered, no class, loser. He can stay away. No one really cares. He would find some way to turn the National Disaster around, and make it all about him. We need to get use to him ignoring death and destruction, because this is exactly what he wants. The more of us that die, the happier he will be. Democrat for McCain/Palin 2008.

  14. It wasn't Obama's responsibility to tour Europe and give campaign speeches all over the world either but he did.  There is a serious grandiose impractical tendency to this guy.

  15. Obama isn't in the White House yet and if he did go then you would accuse him of trying to garner votes, he loses either way. At least he knows how many houses he owns and was intelligent enough to avoid picking a domb broad from Alaska as his VP whose chief skill is frying caribou burgers.

  16. Obamas not the president so it isnt his responsibility is it?

  17. Obama's explanation from that article is perfect:

In a nod to his vast entourage, Obama continued, "The thing that I always am concerned about in the middle of a storm is whether we're drawing resources away from folks on the ground because the Secret Service and various security requirements sometimes it pulls police, fire and other departments away from concentrating on the job. I'm assuming that where he went that wasn't an issue. Were going to try to stay clear of the area until things have settled down and then we'll probably try to figure out how we can be as helpful as possible."

Having just returned from the DNC, I can tell you that "vast entourage" is putting it mildly.  He is asking his volunteers to help.  Neither he or McCain should go for security reasons.

You're really reaching here.  Can't we all just be nice?  As has been pointed out here repeatedly.  Bush is President - it's HIS job to finally do right.

  18. is he saying it would be disruptive because he thinks him coming to that area is bigger than the hurricane coming to that area?

  19. Yes his hypocrisy bothers me! He maligns President Bush but can not take time out of his campaign schedule to go help a few people.

All I read are people saying... He's not the President. Well He sure acts like he already is, shoot he acts like he's already the King of the Whole World.

I think it's funny that he only wants to do "presidential" things when they fit into his schedule not when they need to be done... I think it's sad how many people can't see that.

  20. Obama isn't the president.  If Obama did go he would just be in the way, and you would criticize him for pandering for votes.

  21. Do the words mandatory evacuations mean anything to you?  Nobody is going there before it hits. He will go there after the hurricane hits.

  22. McCain is foolish for going before the storm.  There is no reason to go aside from political.  All he would be doing is diverting local resources for his security with they are needed elsewhere.  Absolutely no one criticized Bush for not going to New Orleans BEFORE Katrina.  No one.

It only bothers you because you choose to be bothered and want to slam Obama.  It doesn't make any difference that there is no logic to your position.

  23. I'm not a fan of Obama, but he is not the president and I don't expect him to go there.  Even if he did, he would be accused of doing it for political reasons.

  24. As Obama supporters will mention :

    He is not president.

the part they are forgetting however :

    and he never will be.

  25. HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY OIL REFINERIES IN THE GULF.

    CHENEY AND BUSH DOES!

They are just going down to figure out how much they can go up for oil.  $6 may $7 @gal.

Don't ya just love em.  Geeze!

  26. McCain and the other Media whores are going down there.

Even Bush the village idiot, is staying Texas, because they would interfere rescue and law enforcement attempts.

  27. Use Critical thinking Obama or MCcain are not the presidents. There presence on the Gulf will only distract from the jobs that need to be done. That is no place for politics. MCcain going there is just another bad choice on his part.

  28. See my Avatar.   That was W giving McCain his 69th Birthday Cake,  Just one day after Katrina hit N.O.

Obama is not the President yet.    I

if he went your  question would be.  "  Obama is on the golf coast so the media can take pix of him  doesn't that bother you"

  29. y'all need to do some thinking here  stop the hatred between dems and rep.... Its not going to do anyone  any good to be there no matter who they are.... This time they are prepared and ready and have told EVERYONE to get out and if they choose to stay its their own fault....( Its not like last time )  What good is it going to  do should anything happen to them  (obama/ bush)or anyone... They are best staying right where they are now and going down after and see what happened.... Bush has come on tv and has been keeping a close eye on the situation...

  30. Since you apparently don't know, Bush is the president.

It's HIS job to take care of the people in the Gulf, not Obama's.

    Enough said.

  31. Yes I am also pissed about His trip to germany But never thought of visiting the troops.
