or do some of you guys live here? in switzerland?

i mean i was born in DC but i've grown up here. and i seem to notice that you guys, um, have slightly different ideas about snowboarding in general.

like you don't wear helmets

and you're obsessed with board sizes, instead of just getting the people at the rental place or the store to do it for you

and apparently it seems to take you really long to catch on to how to do tricks.

I wear a helmet.  I'll admit that a lot of people don't wear helmets.  Is there a problem with that?  It's their decision.  I've never seen anybody at the rental place obsess with board sizes.  Most probably don't even know what the difference it would make.  I don't see that many people taking long to catch onto how to do tricks.  In fact, I see a lot of young American kids ripping harder than a lot of other kids and older men from outside of the country.  Don't be hatin' on America.

the only people that I have seen trying not to do tricks without helmets were Swiss chicks who were obsessed with the length of  their boards.

You were born in America, that makes you American. So why come on here and insult a lot of snowboarders here? That is just rude and immature.

And yes, I am American. I do wear a helmet. I know what size board works for me. I NEVER rent, that sucks, and not everyone at a rental store is an expert.

Im English but most of the snowboarders on this site are American. i wouldent really agree with your statements though, firstly never trust the people at the rental places some of them don't know what they are doing and many of them are too lazy to take the time to get people the right board for them. Secondly im not sure what you mean about American riders taking a long time to catch on how to do tricks?. Apart from Terjie, Jussi and Gigi Ruff im mainly influenced by american riders and they generally have the best riders in the world today. I think your just having a wind up moment though so i wont take your comments that seriously, Good luck with the riding.

First off, that is no way to start a question, it is meant as an antagonistic comment with the way you typed "ALL". Now I have nothing against the Swiss becuase I will not generalize due to one uninformed person who wants to get on the "I'm from Europe, I hate America bandwagon."

Second, you cannot generalize due to a small population of riders. Believe it or not most riders do wear helmets because they are finally less "Euro" looking and more skate inspired.

Third, I wish I could speak for all the riders in here but alas I cannot so I will speak from my experience. Americans are not obsessed with board sizes but instead they have this uncanny ability to want to learn about everything. An informed consumer can make a better choice. The rental people could know nothing for all you know.

Lastly the tricks. I don't know why you think it takes long for us to catch onto tricks. It actually baffles me. I will leave you with a question of my own. If it takes us as Americans so long to catch onto tricks, then why have we won the Olympic Halfpipe Comp the first two games it was introduced?

Yea, pretty much. I'm sure there are some international riders that contribute to Yahoo Answers, but none of them find it necessary to bag on riders from the US like you do.

I don't know where you get these crazy opinions from - we just like to go ride like anyone else. I wear a helmet and others don't - that's  called personal preference. We all like different types of gear - again, personal preference.

If you are such an expert, why don't you try answering some questions instead of asking obnoxious questions? I think we all agree that you could get lost and we would be the better for it. Well, maybe its just me.

I live in Kansas City, Kansas...I do wear a helmet...I have two different boards, a 167 for pow and a 158 for On-Piste, Park...and the kids asking questions about how to do tricks, they are just simply utilizing all of the technology that they can to progress in their favorite sport, and I dont see anything wrong with that.  And yes, the majority of people on here are American...God Bless Them, Americans Rule.
