Does this choice convince the US that McCain is ready to lead and has a great stand-by Veep in case of unfortunate circumstances?

How many points did McCain get from the "bump up" of making a VP pick?

  1. It changed the way this was going. I wish it would move to the real issues.

  2. If he can't even choose a good VP how can he make any other important decisions as President?!

There is a good chance he's going to die in office, so would you really want a soccer-mom taking over.  Soccer-moms are crazy...

  3. The republican ticket consists of an old war vet (and I respect him for that) who is totally out of reach with the general american public and a caribou hunter who was Governor of a state with the same population as El Paso Texas.

  4. It was a bad move. If he dies in office, she'll take over. I know a lot of people who are voting for Obama now, including myself.

  5. It was a risk that's gone south for him.

Even SP's mother-in-law, Faye Palin, who said she is thinking of voting for Mr Obama, sounds sceptical. She said: “I’m not sure what she brings to the ticket, other than she’s a woman and a conservative.”

The biggest cloud on the horizon is an Alaskan ethics investigation into allegations that, as Governor, she, her husband and her aides, pressured and ultimately fired Walter Monegan, the public safety commissioner, for not sacking her brother-in-law, an Alaskan state trooper involved in an ugly divorce with Mrs Palin’s sister.

That and the Bridge to Nowhere. which would have connected Gravina Island with Ketchikan international airport, a project that had become a nationwide symbol of the wasteful, pork-barrel spending that Mr McCain has made a cornerstone of his campaign, and SP when she ran for governor campaigned on the “build the bridge” platform.

  6. It just lost him the election.

  7. Right now the Republicans are wishing that the ghost of Reagan would appear and save them from this awful nightmare.

  8. I think he made a good choice. The choice he made attracted more conservatives AND feminists. Palin has excellent executive experience and I think that Obama might as well drop out. He has lost.

  9. awesome.

  10. You can't go by polls. The polls always show the democrats to be up right after their convention and the same with republicans. The bump that Obama got after the convention is actually low compared to past elections. Right now polls mean nothing, and so many of them are ridiculously biased.

  11. Not so hot, McCain has lost 8 points in the polling since the announcement.

  12.   Don't care about bumps or points, but

this has sure created excitement for the

      Republicans. Yeh! Some tough woman.
