I went to this site www.aPlaceToDine.com. I should say, I was very impressed with the level of details and the entire site looked really neat. But I question if India is ready for such a site. Do people really order online? Does table reservations work? I have seen sites like this in US but I wonder where India is with this!

If India is ready for this I think this is the perfect site to take India and the restaurant portal to the online space.

I wish them the very best!

  1. I would say why not. I just checked out that site and I too was very impressed. All depends on how they promote their site. People in India are having greater spending power than what they used to have. Right now they don't mind spending little extra for services. This probably wont work for small time restaurants. But major restaurants it is a really helpful tool. Will work for mainly major metros. There are things in India that work for some reasons that I don't get. For example caller tunes in mobile services. People pay around 30 bucks a month for 30 seconds of music that repeats over and over again and that too for some one else to listen. But this does make sense. So who knows. Reservations should work in metros because people probably don't want to travel over an hour to a restaurant and find out that there is no table free.

Its still premature though to say anything. I wish them the very best too.

  2. I would love to use such a portal. Though it need to have more depth. Give location info even for restaurant which do not participate in order / reservation system. This adds a lot of value as 1 stop dining portal.

And, add a map, use Yahoo / Google map, they are easy.

  3. I am a big fan of this restaurant portal & their top  management club like The CEO founder Mr Shiva Srinivasan who has loads of experience in portal industry & through his skills & efforts has brought India a concept that was long awaited by Indian masses......
