So, is it just me or..... on the top contributors, ever noticed this?

seems that once u have a top contributor badge, u get more best answers?

it's like, ppl see the badge, so oh they must be right? it confuses me. even if the answer isn't all great, they still get best if the asker is like confused or just voted?

idk, maybe it's just me. what do u think?

I have the badge, and I don't get picked as best answer more than usual.

I always vote on the answer that I think is best. I don't know why people would vote on someone just because of their numbers and not their answers.

Maybe, and I think the Top Contributor sometimes gets targeted by an evil underground force.

It happens. I try not to focus on the badges too much, instead of the value of the answer. However, I do think people see the badge and instantly pay more attention to their answers. That's one of the perks of being a top-contributer, however, becoming a top contributer also is about having more best answers to begin with... So it's kinda a "I win a lot" so Yahoo! makes it easier for people to see this.

Also, you have to think a lot of people vote for their own answers when they go to "Vote" status. This is kinda a bad way to get more best answers, especially when your answer wasn't the best (I read answers that are better than mine all the time, but I still feel that if I share my view, that I am contributing), but people do it. I can't say anyone who has Top Contributer does that, but I'm sure some of them do.

I used to get 56+ best answers per week before I had this badge.

After I got this badge, it's about 20+

So, nope.

But the fact is also that the Top Contributors do give very good answers.

So, I guess that is why they get a lot of best answers.

However, some questioners don't like to give the Best Answers to the Top Contributors even if the answer was best.

There are all sorts of people.

Some users however, are always giving the Best answer to the Top Contributor...just because they are a Top Contributor!

Yes...you've pointed out an interesting fact!

The Top Contributor in the Leader Board of the politics section is also a famous troll! He gives rude answers and insults other people.

Also I've  seen some Top Contributors for R&S coming here and posting harsh comments.

So, the moral of the story is, not all Top Contributors are sweet people!

Yes..you have a good point, but you cannot get the TC badge for Polls & Surveys.

The Top Contributor badges aren't given for the Polls & Surveys or the Jokes & Riddles categories.

Yes. I hate that, too. Even top contributors have given me harsh answers & got 12 thumbs UP for it.

TC does not mean you are the best answerer. All it means is that you have contributed a good amount in one category. I signed on one morning and had the TC attached to my avatar. There are quite a few out there who I think should be TC but aren't. My Q&A use to be open until I started having answers reported sometimes these answers were months old. Best Answer is the one with the most votes not necessarily the best one. Each one of us has one vote per question. I won't even go into the multiple account holders that vote the same answer. Some TC would like the label to only be displayed in the category that they were assigned so it would be easier to go to other forums. Some would like the option of not having it showing at all. First and foremost it is a designation that means one thing and one thing only. A lot of questions were answered. It does not indicate in anyway shape or form that the answer is better than others. You can get a TC in Polls and Surveys just by saying yes and no. There you go my two cents worth.

EDIT: Thank you to the Asker for correcting my misinformation about P&S. They are not eligable for TC contrary to my statement above.

I agree with ray i used to be a top contributor(somehow it's vanished) but I got less best answers
