  1. idk, my bff jill?

no, Russia has no desire to fight a war with a larger country, just as the U.S. has no desire to fight a war with Russia.

it's the same concept as the cold war: mutual deterrence. neither side wanted to fight, so steps were taken to prevent war, just as is happening today.

  2. really doubt it, russia is in my opinion not that kind of player. its in nobodies interest anyway, open war that is. it costs too much and produces negative effects to domestic politics. russia is in hands of high lvl mafia. i doubt they have financial gain in such war, and wars can make big shifts in 'underground'. on other side i doubt america has any serious interest in conflicting there. america needs georgia on their side as little proamerican island in that region (thats why they support them politically), but at this moment with everything that has happened in middle east and political situation and economy in US, i really doubt that america would have political determination and budget for new war.

  3. Over tiny Georgia? Nah, we can be doing better things with our troops. Keep in mind that the first person to attack Russia was in fact the Georgians. Sure, it was years ago, but they learned an important lesson when Russia started the invasion; never mess with Russia, because they will grind your head into the pavement if you do. Sure, we could trigger a world war, but our generals aren't stupid. They know what they are doing. In fact, they're the only ones who know what they are doing, and the politicians need to shut up and let them work.

  4. Should Russia invaded the US because we sent troops to Fallujah to revenge the fallen Private Military Contractor?

Seriously you need to stop seeing thing from your point of view.

Beside South Ossetia wanted to be part of Russia, but Georgia didn't let them because they wanted to follow the border policy.

  5. No both countries normally pick on weak defenceless nations like

Iraq, Chechnya the ones who cant fight back etc...

they wouldnt ever go head to head with each other because they dont like it when the other side can return fire.

They were beating the drums of war against North korea but shut up fast when it detonated an atom device,

they probably said oh s*it its too dangerous now i think we'll just shut up and North korea bully someone else....

  6. No way.

What has happened in Russia-Georgia is a result of the sudden collapse of USSR that left a host of questions unanswered. US is fully aware of it.

Most people are blind to certain geo-political realities in post-USSR world, the ties that were binding its 15 republics. If nothing else, at least you must have respect to Russian Federation for its stature, resources and potential when you talk in the same breath about US. Russian Federation (RSFSR in USSR days) with 3/4 area and 2/3 population of USSR, is even now the largest country and is no push-over like any of couple of hundred countries. Her unrealised & realised potential economically, militarily and technologically are immense. I am not talking from the ethical standpoint which is rather flimsy in International affairs and relations. However, it is stupid to challenge Russia through countries like Georgia. US will never do the mistake of militarily confronting Russia.

  7. We could have a war with any country at any given time.

But in all honesty, we are not going to go to war with Russia anytime soon. Are troops are too thinly spread, and Russia is too powerful of a force for us to go to war with, given the circumstances. It would be an unrealistic decision. The best we can do is put political pressure on Russia, and negotiate.

Apart from that though, Pakistan is a current threat as is North Korea and Iran.

  8. The Russians are much more in to flexing the military might to intimidate then actually going head to head with NATO or the US.  They have done that and are still pushing to see how far they can go and then once all the former Soviet block countries understand they are still able to do it they will back off after getting that they want.  Much like the Berlin Wall Crisis when the Russians cut Berlin off from supplies by closing the roads but never attempted to stop the aircraft bringing the supplies needed to keep the city fed.  They had a legal way to cut the road off (though flimsy and not really legitimate in any other county's view) but to attack the aircraft would have been an act of war so they did one to see how the West would react.  They will push keeping Russian troops (Peacekeepers) outside of the areas they agreed too, try to get the two provinces recognized as countries, and see what concessions they can get then when faced with a united front by the west back off or if the west gives in they will keep taking until they finally hit something they get called on.
