So, what if my calling is to become a brutal dictator?

Does a calling have to be a "good thing" - I mean, the world needs good and bad... so could doing "evil" technically BE someone's calling in life?

  1. if your calling is to be "evil" then you better not ignore it, go out and buy evil things to make your calling come true, if you don't follow your calling, you will regret it, no matter how evil, like the quote, "love what you do, never work a day in your life."

  2. Then the choice could be on what - not whom, to dictate.

(See if you could dictate subatomic particles...)

  3. OMG satan what are you doing on this website did you get bored with cable tv.

  4. Most great leaders, not just dictators, have felt their calling even in their childhood. No point in mentioning names, they are too many. Through merit they must have appointed that place to themselves, and karma could only oblige.

  5. I will be brief...

The only "calling" I see is that I would be the first, last and only victim.

I am also aware that God does on occasion use evil to His own ends. However, my preference is to keep the Door to Evil definitely CLOSED as I personally believe that the world desperately needs good but  not "evil".

  6. What the heck is a "calling"? Surely you do not mean your predistined fate? The original meaning of that word is that the object of your desire is "calling" to you. How can anyone's "calling" be tyranny?

I do not believe in religion, but sometimes religion has good things to say. I believe this from The Gospel According to Mary Magdalene:

"25) Peter said to him, Since you have explained everything to us, tell us this also: What is the sin of the world?

    26) The Savior said There is no sin, but it is you who make sin when you do the things that are like the nature of adultery, which is called sin."

Substitute "tyranny" and "brutality" for "adultry," and I would say you are the very definition of that self-chosen evil that the "Savior" describes.

  7. Perhaps but who says that you have to blindly obey.  Being ethical means sometimes fighting against the weaker sides of our nature, and cultivating what we know deep down is the better sides.  (and I'm using plurals on purpose because humans are indeed many-faceted)
