  1. Cabo Rico 38' is great.  Actually, there are many sailboats there in Florida that are good and seaworthy.

The Catalinas and Morgans and Pearsons are quite nice and handle well and give you some pretty good value for your dollar.

My wife and I lived aboard and cruised up and down the East coast and the Bahanas for 3 years.  Our 38 foot was the right size for us, but had many friends cruising and living aboard their boats from 32' to 40+ feet.  We knew one couple that cruised their 27' NorSea twice to Europe.

For the one that went to Europe, check their web site at

Whatever you do, remember to enjoy life.

  2. In recent years there has been a shift towards Beneteau Sailboats, from 39 to 57 ft.  They are a little pricy, and the absolute best boat I've seen in the last ten years was a "custom built" 57 something Beneteau....I'm not sure who did the custom work, but it was truely sea worthy.  If your budget is a bit tighter there are a number of "out' Island Morgans and even some Irwins that are on the market. $70 to  125K  They are  a good buy and in most cases sound.  I'd caution you to check the history of anything used, there are some Hurricane salvaged boats outthere that I'd be skeptical of buying......Good luck!    P.S. I have a picture of the Beneteau but I didn't get the name. ..I forgot to ask she cost but I'd guess well over the $500K newer ones cost

  3. There are some REALLY GREAT BUYS on Endeavour 32's right now... you can pick one up for less than $20,000 and they are great live-aboards and bahama & caribbean boats.

    Check Boat Trader Online

  4. 1 that floats

  5. There's a reason that the catamaran is the state bird of Florida. Have you looked into Fountaine Pajot?
