  1. Medical experts say that it is an identifiable disease.  Just as bi-polar people have a disease.  It is a disease of the mind.  However,  alcoholics really hurt other people so I don't think it is an excuse myself.

  2. By that logic, any compulsion to do anything would be classified as a "disease".  I have "rape kids disease" and "strangle woman syndrome"  its not my fault, i can't help it.  WAH WAH WAH.

Its time for people to take responsibility for their own CHOICES.

Do I pick up this bottle and press it to my lips, or do I not?  It's always a choice.  Those who refuse to stop do so at their own accord.

  3. No, I do not think that alcoholism is a disease.  MS, MD, Mumps, and polio is a disease.  Alcoholism is an addiction.  The person is addicted to alcohol.

  4. h**l no!! If weakness and not being able to grow up are diseases, then yes. People just say "it's a disease" because they are too pathetic to quit. I guess hitting your children and smoking cigarettes are "diseases" too. Lol, that is sad.

  5. yes- call it mental disorder or a chemical imbalance. it is a disease not a choice. if you had ever seen it - from the inside or outside- you would not have to ask.

  6. as long as the AMA classifies it as one and has the proof to back it up, anyone who says it ain't is a narrow minded fool!
