Question:

So CBC did it again?

They managed to s***w up the country by not showing the rest of the game to the rest of the country between Edmonton and Sask.

That being said they are losing the rights anyway next year to TSN for broadcasting...although ill miss the CBC Grey Cup coverage after this year, they are a horrible coverer of any sport besides hockey and let down the country.

I bet though that if that Storm did not occur that Edmonton wins that game....but something about luck and coincidences is helping sask this year....it is a good change though to see SASK on top of the cfl...........who agrees that the CBC did this on purpose, especially to the fans of Edmonton? At least here in Winnipeg we got to hear it on the radio, Edmonton had to read about it in the next days paper...what a shock to be winning by 5 and you wake up and find your team lost by how many?

  1. The CBC doesn't have to worry about viewer loyalty for CFL games after this year, so yeah, I'd say that they did this on purpose.  Switching to Just For Laughs and then the scheduled movie instead of trying to show something football-related during the delay and technical difficulty gives the impression of just giving up on broadcasting the game.  It is a major letdown that they'd do that when the outcome of the game was still in doubt (and especially with the result actually changing) but like I said, the CBC doesn't have to worry about angry CFL viewers after this year.

  2. Did it on purpose?  You mean to p**s you off?  I don't know about that.  They didn't conjure up the storm that knocked out the transmission but I know they made a decision to not go back because it's still all about the money.  CFL games don't do well on the CBC anyways.    TSN lives by sports so wait it out and next year you'll be a lot happier.

  3. I do, as i said b4 CBC is all about Toronto and nothing else.

  4. I don't know about s******g up the country but someone messed up the football coverage by not going back to the game.

What are you talking about? CBC are terrible at hockey. It's all Make Beliefs all the time, Cole is absolutely horrid, they have no intermission fetaures (talking heads only and still the boring 1950s-like player interviews) as well as they never go to other games like TSN does in the playoffs.

Even though this was bad it's the CFL and in no way compares to the AFL's Heidi Game. After much sports talk show blether the few days after, it has died down. Let's get real, it's not the end of the world. The CBC screwed up but what can you expect--it's like Bananada itself.

  5. OMG... I wanted the score to that team as soon as possible, i found out that in Sask there was a storm that blew the electricity.. if it were held in Edmonton what happened there would have not happened here...

CBC doing it purposely?!?!? i don't think so.. they have a perfectly fair explanation of why the heck that happened.

As an Edmontonian, i am upset that the esks lost, but Edmonton losing because of the storm? no i dont think so... i do not think a CFL team would purposely because of a storm.

  6. The only purpose behind the CBC doing that is that they had to get their schedule back in order at some point that night.

Though I doubt anything personal was meant against Edmonton fans...with the CFL/CBC relationship ending, I don't think that the CFL is a current priority at the network.

  7. For a nationally funded broadcaster the CBC sure doesn't do a very good job!!!!!

  8. yes CBC dropped the ball, in other pro sports like baseball and Nascar when there is a rain/storm delay they stay with the game and report any new news until the time finally comes when the game resumes. CBC jumps to a movie, an to make it worse doesn't even come back to the game outside of Sask...brutal. I am glad TSN is getting all the CFL, I never liked CBC for CFL anyways. And don't get me started on CBC's 'Hockey Night in Canada' which should be re-named to: 'CBC Leafs Game on Saturday Night'..

  9. CBC will be losing the viewers now. They are done with the CFL wait no,  the CFL is done with them. I am an Eskimoes fan and that was horrible. Dumb move. Couldn't believe it.

  10. I don't think the CBC did it on purpose to p%$# off Esks fans.  The story in the Toronto Star was that the senior guy on call had turned of his cell phone and the control center couldn't get hold of him 'cause no one knew his home #.  Anyway, I won't miss CBC's coverage.  I can't stand Walby, and I'm getting fed up with Millington, too.

I think the bigger question is why does the CBC schedule games at 10 p.m. eastern time?  How will they ever build up a national audience.  I live in Ontario and will watch any CFL game that's on in prime time regardless of the teams.

  11. Well, I really don't think they accidentally showed the late nite movie instead of the end of the game.  Somebody over at the network obviously knew what he was doing when he made that call.

But yeah, I agree that TSN's CFL coverage is far superior to the CBC's.  As long as all the games remain televised, I won't miss the CFL on CBC.
