So Did I Get The Job?

I interviewed over a month ago for a call center job at AT&T. I was told the training class would start July 28th 2008 and I would be called if I got the job by the 15th of July and I was never called.

Well just now the HR lady from AT&T called me and said she had a job offer for me to start tomorrow morning at AT&T and to bring my driver's license and social security card. It's July 29th. I'm confused.

Did I get the job?

  1. It sounds like you did, but also that they are disorganized on their end.  Or maybe, someone else was initially hired and then backed out (or didn't work out after the training class...you never know.)

Congrats!  I hope that the last-minute notice didn't make your life too stressful.  That was slightly inconsiderate of your new employer but hopefully overall things will work out well for you.

  2. Yes, you got a job, not sure if it's THE job for which you originally applied, though.

Companies, especially big companies like AT&T are constantly having to push back their deadines, so just get your best work outfit together, put on a smile and go enjoy your new job.  Congratulations!

  3. You need to ask them these questions when you have them on the phone, not us.  I'm sorry for being blunt, but I have watched you post questions about applying for this job in the past. I'm hoping THIS TIME you got the number for HR.  Call her back, and tell her you are confused because you thought training was going to start yesterday.  You haven't had any training yet.  See what she says.  I have no idea if they are starting training a day late or if they are going to put you in a separate training class from the one that started yesterday or what.

As for you getting the job, yes, it sounds like you have the job.  They need the driver's license and social security card to fill out paperwork.  If you aren't sure, ask HR about that too.  Tell them you want to be sure you have the job before you bring in your private information, and tell them that they should understand.  Like someone else said though, make sure it is also the job you applied for.  If you waited this long to hear back from them, they may have filled the position you wanted, kept you in a file somewhere, and dragged your name back out for something like a housekeeping position because their one custodian just quit.

  4. You got the job. Get your stuff together and head on down there!!

Sounds like management took a day too long to make a decision.

  5. It sounds as if you were offered a job, but which job, I'm not sure?  I'm surprised that you did not ask any questions when they called.

Could be they offered the position to a number of people for the training class which started on June 28th and they had someone not show up for class and have now offered you a place in the class.  Ask question when you show up tomorrow.

  6. yep your hired  congrats... DON:T be late :)

  7. If she told you to report tomorrow morning you sure did, congratulations.

  8. i think that you didn't get the job that you applied for but you got another job in the company... maybe they promoted u 2 b manager of your floor or something! GOOD LUCK!

  9. Obv you got the job..the might have simply extended their time for the job offer.
