So Hee Lee and Seung Chan Shin land title berth in Women’s Doubles category at Korea Grand Prix Gold
Korea’s impressive players So Hee Lee and Seung Chan Shin proved their supremacy on court and landed a title berth after defeating Macau’s Rong Wang and Zhibo Zhang in Women’s Doubles semi-final at Korea Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Korea, on Saturday, December 8.
The third seeded So Hee and Seung Chan, who stayed composed in all of their matches in the championship, continued their staggering performance and remained successful in beating their un-seeded challengers after a good fight.
It was not a smooth sailing for Korean shuttlers as they had to face a tough resistance from their Macau opponents all the way. However, they managed to win this battle with a narrow margin by playing positively in the concluding points.
In contrast, Rong and Zhibo put up superb show and created pressure on their higher ranked local rivals throughout the match. But they failed to maintain their aggressive play in the ending points and eventually lost the contest in a respectable manner.
In the first set, the third seeded So Hee and Seung Chan showed a wonderful aggression on court as they played attacking badminton but they could not create a huge gap at the initial stage as their challengers were also positive in the arena.
Until the end of opening half, both sides stayed close on the board as they played positive and aggressive badminton all the way.
After the one-minute break, the match progressed in the similar fashion as they continued playing attacking badminton and reached at the ending points.
At this stage, So Hee and Seung Chan played controlled badminton and remained successful in winning the opening game with a reasonable margin of 21-18.
In the second set, Rong and Zhibo geared up their speed to play positive badminton and remained successful in staying close to their Korean challengers until the end of first half.
After the break, So Hee and Seung Chan put in extra effort to create pressure on their opponents and they managed to control the pace of rallies in ending points.
The wonderful precision helped the Koreans shuttlers to stay focused and they took the second set with a close 21-19 score on the board.
So Hee and Seung Chan managed to stamp their mark over Rong and Zhibo in this semi-final fight by finishing it up in straight sets with a narrow margin of 21-18 and 21-19.
