So... How much longer is this going to last?

I mean the argument between creationists and Big Bang theorists.

Creationism says that an all powerful deity created everything

The Big Bang theory says that all that was was formerly an infinitely dense ball of energy, and something made it expand, transform into different types of energy (namely matter, and electromagnetic radiation) and then after planets and stuff formed, chemical reactions ensued, and these chemical reactions eventually produced long molecules that could replicate themselves and then they continued to replicate themselves until something changed that and they changed into something slightly different....... .... .... ... ... ... ... .... ... Which changed into something ELSE slightly different which eventually ended up as a life form as we know it

I'm not saying either one is right, I just want to know how long you think one will be proven (a 1,000+ year old book isn't proof, as whether intentionally or not, books CAN be altered over time) ("Science" isn't a good answer either.)

  1. The big bang is provable and very well understood.

    The suggestion that:

An invisible uncreated being created the known ex-nihlo from an unknown location at an unknown time for purposes which are difficult to establish using magical powers which are by there very nature forever off limits to man is not an answer; nor is it logical or intelligent.

  2. Hooray, that is a very good question. As a Christian it is not my job to prove God's existence but the Christians that do argue with Atheists ends up going in circles.  Both sides sides tell each other that the burden of proof is on them. I ask the question, why even bother to try and prove the existence or non-existence of God? Wouldn't it be better for all involved to move on to more productive endeavors? Just an opinion on my part.

  3. I'm not sure why you think they're mutually exclusive... actually, the creationists should be very happy about the details of the big bang... considering that the universe is not only expanding, but that expansion is accelerating, which suggests its not eternally cyclic. But hey - why think about things logically when you can just throw poo at each other!

  4. The two are not mutually exclusive.

  5. It will probably last forever, but there is no evidence for a god, nor any reason to posit his existence. If god has existed forever, then the universe could have, also.

  6. Creationism also says a supernatural entity magically created all living things separately.

There is nothing supernatural about evolution.

ID is the "Trojan Horse" of stupidity, and would be a complete disservice to our children.
