Question:

So I'm not the only only who despises Therrian?

His players don't even want to play for him.

"If that isn't an issue to be dealt with immediately, it is certainly something that will grow with time. Brooks Orpik, the free agent defenceman who will be coveted by many teams after July 1, has told people he will not re-sign in Pittsburgh if Therrien is the coach. Jordan Staal, the terrific young player who lives in the shadow of Crosby and Evgeni Malkin -- but is poised to bust out as one of the most complete centres in hockey -- is another Therrien complainer."

You think Therrian will still be behind the bench next season?

  1. Bottom line is this: When Therrien took over, his young talent was going to waste, and this team was going nowhere...He got on them and rode them hard, and his ranting about their poor performance helped to turn the team around...He's a no-nonsense guy behind the bench, and a better coach than he gets credit for, though Babcock clearly outcoached him in the finals.

  2. You mean TEARrian? yeah but he fits in pittsburg well with the rest of the crybabies.

  3. I wouldn't want him coaching my team.  Say all you want about him whipping this team into shape, but all new coaches do that.  Its what is expected of them.  The real judge of a coach's talent is how he responds to adversity and how he carries himself.  His young team needed a good leader, but all they got was a whiner that failed to mention their own short comings in Games 1 and 2, but simply place it on the officials.  He may work well for some teams, but I think this young Pens team needs a totally different type of coach.  They need a guy like Andy Murray.  Someone that has a good presence.

The Pens didn't have any competition in the playoffs until Detroit.  So nobody was able to see how he responded to adversity until the Finals.  He then showed his true colors.  He may have had some confidence in his team after Game 1, but he sure didn't show it.  I know he is a low key guy, but that is no excuse for how he carried himself in this series.

Babcock for coach of the year.  He is proving that he is the BEST coach in the league by far.  For three straight years AFTER the salary cap his team has lead the league in points in the regular season.  They had a bad hiccup against Edmonton, a few injuries and the ONLY team that I thought Detroit didn't match up with that year, last year they lost to Edmonton, but what would have happened if a healthy Schneider and Kronwall were around (that's hockey though), and now a Stanley Cup.

Also he got an Anaheim team to Game 7 of the Cup Finals.  That Anaheim team had a great goalie, but really didn't have much else.  I give Babcock all the credit for taking that team that far.  The Wings are very fortunate to have him.

  4. Get me a legitimate source, because that didn't look like one, and get me QUOTES FROM PLAYERS. If you get that I may believe it. Just claiming the players said that doesn't mean much to me. To be honest though I'd rather some player leave then the coach. If you get rid of one coach the player starts to get an ego that they are bigger then the coach.

  5. why dont they like terrian. he is a good coach.

  6. This guy only took a last place team (2 yrs. ago) that had limited talent and whipped them into shape & had them in the SC Finals. Yeah, that's a GREAT reason to dump a coach. You don't have to love a coach to play for him. Remember Herb Brooks ? His players despised him! (They didn't turn out so bad, did they ?)

  7. i dont like him easier, cause of the team and the way he looks/acts

  8. He's an idiot. Daryl Sydor was a healthy scratch until game 4 of the Finals. Yes, two-time Cup winner and 3-time (at least) Finals-appearance Daryl Sydor. The man who could've brought a metric ton of leadership and experience to a team with ZERO Cup Finals experience. Scratching Roberts from games two to four was also an idiotic move.

That and he whines like Crosby.
