...I was planning to check out the American end of the falls bcoz I am yet to see what's on the other end. I'd like to know if the US authorities would stamp my passport when I cross over the bridge. I do have a valid B1/B2 visit visa for the States.

  1. I am an American and I recommend the Ontario side!!!!

Watch Canadian Bacon and you'll see how much filthier the US side is.  I'm entitled to insult the US because it's my home country.

so I admit, there is not an American who visits Niagara and doesn't lodge on Ontario side of the falls.

  2. There is nothing at all on the USA side... trust me!! I live in Niagara Falls, Ontario... It is so run down and ghetto over there it's not even funny... they have 1 casino and that is it! They have the same things we do... like the Maid of the Mist and Journey behind the Falls... But ours is totally much better... I seriously wouldn't wast your time with going to the US side... and no they will not stamp your past port... I have been there several times.

  3. Well I wouldn't recommend the US side, there really isn't anything to do over there and the view is MUCH better from the Canadian Side, there isn't much of a view from the US side.

They won't stamp your passport but you will have to show it to them to cross.(even with your visa)

    Good luck and have fun!

p.s. If you have time, check out Niagara-on-the-lake while your in the Falls.  It's about 20 min drive away and a GORGEOUS area to spend an afternoon.

OK I understand you're meeting a friend, but they won't stamp your passport, they WILL want to see it though. as well as your visa.

  4. The Canadian side is very touristy and will suck up your money.  The New York side has a beautiful state park and you can get VERY close to the falls.  I just got back from there yesterday, it will cost you $8.00 to get into the state park but well worth it.  Pack a picnic lunch, they do have some food booths but pretty pricey.  Also, Cave of the Winds is very much worth the $10.00.  I strongly suggest you see it.  The little city isn't much to see there, there was a Hard Rock Cafe and the food there was MUCH cheaper than the Hard Rock on the Canadian side.
