I caught a wasp and I want to know how to take care of it, or keep it alive. There is a wasp nest on my porch I want to know how to take it down without getting stung. I want to get it into the jar to examine it.

  1. turn it lose and watch them(the one you have will be focused on getting back to the nest and wont eat but will die),they are fascinating to watch and they are pretty nice and usually don't sting unless really provoked :) they aren't hurting you so please leave them be or you'll kill the whole nest....(I used to watch them and I have accidentally stuck my hand in nests before and they don't sting often I have never been stung by a wasp just yellow jackets) but if you move the nest they wont act normal and they will die....lol you sound like someone I could get along with I love to watch animals interact and live....

  2. very carefully and quickly put your jar over the nest and chop it at the base with a flat piece of ridgid material, bbbbut expect to get stung or leave them alone.

  3. Spray the nest with wasp poison for a few days until all the wasps are dead. Then you can look at the nest. Wasps aren't pets, they'll sting you the first chance they get. And don't just leave the nest alone, especially since it's so close to your house. It will just get bigger and bigger until you won't want to  use your porch.
