  1. Nuff, that sucks. I don't agree with you a lot of the time, but I appreciate your involvement. Someone's been digging up my old posts too and reporting them for false violations. From what I hear, I'm not the only one. And I certainly get a good heaping of thumbs down. The reporting is lame, but it appears that no one is immune.

  2. not on your life, science is important / fun too...

  3. I hope not, but it seems so.  Why do we all have to agree all the time?  Whatever happened to listening to, and not censoring, each others opinions?  Doesn't hearing other opinions help us to be more sure of our own?  Or LEARN something and maybe CHANGE our opinion?  Or are we do UNSURE of our thinking that we require everybody else to agree in order to validate it?

Since when do we all have to be in lockstep in order to get along?

Differing perspectives and opinions are what make debate exciting.

So, I hope free speech is not dead anywhere, especially not on yahoo answers!

  4. So the trolls are not just in seniors...hmm.

    Dispicable.

  5. I agree with you Nuff in regards with free speech being dead here (people can be very rude)....There are only a limited number of places available (on this planet) where open minded concepts can be logically discussed....I love visiting the Alternative section just for that fact.....I dislike thumbing anyone down and have never reported someone - everyone is allowed to their opinion I say (no matter how ridiculous it may seem).....

  6. There was no reason to flag your question.Did They say why?Not that it makes any difference.Once it's gone that's it.There's only one person I know of who threatens and recommends reporting. My guess though,it's got nothing to do with point of view. They just like reporting for the power rush it gives them. You're not wrong to be upset.

  7. nuff..I got a violation too..on a Resolved Answer...Guess there's no hidin' place from them. Are you saying that they reported your question? Can't you write back to Y/A  and contest it? I didn't contest mine. I don't know how many you're allowed to get.  Do you know? I'm not really sure it's the skeptics doing this. When I was in other sections the same thing happened. They were always fussing about "trolls". It got to where that's all they talked about. Hope we don't get like that.

Edit..Well the thumbs down part must be more than one person..unless somebody has a lot of different emails...or friends going along with him/her.

If somebody gets a thumbs down for nothing..I always give them a thumbs up to cancel it out.

  8. The randi post was a good one.  Sorry to hear it got zapped.

  9. Notice that nobody got 'thumbed down' this time!

  10. I guess someone who doesn't care about what you have to say reported you for violating the community guidelines, it's not really free speech in here because of the rules they set up - and posting up a personal rant is one of them. So no matter how ticked off we get when our questions get pulled and we lose points - we must have violated something and the weasel who reported us was just doing their civic duty.

It sucks but this is communism at it's best.

  11. I remember going toe to toe with you recently on Randi.  I get frustrated sometimes, but reporting people because you disagree with them is chickens**t.  Y!A has a credibility standard now, to discourage spurious reports.  People who do that, (and I see TR has had his share, too), will lose their accounts or lose their ability to make reports, from what I remember.  If your question was removed, it would have been for Y!A's reasons, not just because somebody reported it.  I just had one yanked in the astronomy forum because they said it was "chatty."  And I'm sure no one reported it.

Since the question has been removed, I can't look at who answered or what I said.  Anyway, FTR, it wasn't me.

BTW, something to think about: If someone has engaged in a long argument in their answer, that person is likely not the one who reported you, (if anyone.)  Getting your question deleted also gets their answer deleted.  Why go to all the trouble of answering, then?

  12. I agree with you that a question or answer shouldn't be removed just because you don't agree with it.  That's what the thumbs up/down--which is also free speech--is for.

I have had a fair number of violation notices (that really weren't violations of the ToS) from people who didn't like what I had to say, so it does cut both ways.  I do not expect to hear from the person who reports me, just as I wouldn't contact the person I report (if and when I ever do).

BTW, this question itself could qualify as a violation, but I won't be reporting it. :-)

  13. Huh, what,????

You have tons of great info & I for one love hearing your anwers~~

So, keep up the great work Nuff!!

Don't you dare leave!!  You have every right to say what you feel!  Gwad, just because some don't agree, that is FAR from your problem.  It is theirs.

  14. Well nuff said, how much are you paying for this free stuff?

You get what you pay for.

And if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

And if you can't pass Randi's tests, don't accept the challenge.

But if you took the time to read the terms and conditions, you'd discover that it takes a minimum of two people to make a complaint.  The more complaints, the more likely Yahoo will look.

And, it would help if you involved yourself in an honest question instead of stooping to ad hominem attacks.

  15. I Think Yahoo Has To Start Actually Reading The Q's Ans A's That Are Getting Reported Instead Of Just Deleting Them Other Wise People Are Just Wasting Their Time And Will Move Onto Another Site Similar To This One!!!

Theres Too Many Idiots On Here That Get Their Jollys Off Ruining Other Peoples Q's and A's And They Should Be The Ones Getting Reported!!!!

They Should Show The Name Of The Person Who Reports You Q's Or A's Maybe That Will Slow Them Down!!!!

  16. Honestly? It sounds to me like your the one who has a problem with an opposing opinion.

edit: by the way, like TR, someone is digging up my old posts too and reporting them for violations.
