I have a well at my house. I've never drank it on purpose because the well was put in there when my grandpa built this house like 50 years ago and my Mom has always told me it's bad. Also there's something about the laundry water running out of the house and absorbing into the ground. We always have bottled water in the fridge but my maid makes canned juice with water from the faucet sometimes. I've only drank juice made with the water a few times since I've been pregnant and she did it again tonight so I'm wondering if the water in moderation will hurt my baby? Thank youuu.

  1. You can buy a $10 well water testing kit at just about any home improvement store, or you can have it professionally tetsted. If there is something in the water it can be treated. I drink my well water all the time and test it once a year. Trust me if there was something in the water it wouldn't be long before you were on the toilet.

BTW, wells are usually pretty deep when done correctly. the ground would absorb most if not all chemicals before it reached the well where water is stored. Also dranage from a well is and should be positioned away from the well...anyone constructing a well, professional or not, would have taken the time to make sure this was done.

Did you know that spring water only needs to be tested once every 3 years? Most bottling companies do it more often, but that doesn't mean the bottle your drinking from came from a tested supply.

I urge you to test the well, you shouldn't have to pay so much for something that mother nature offers to the world for free.

  2. dont drink well water.. You could get runoff in it and what if an animal gets into it and dies and it floats around for a while???? My friends and sister have well water and they only use it for showers, laundry and what not...

  3. well it really depends on what is in the water. get it tested if you are that concerned

  4. Just buy bottled water. It's not worth the risk.

  5. Better avoid it just in case.  I was wondering about the same thing, almost.  I live in Paris and the water is not "bad per say, but very concentrated in calcium and even leaves build-up in the sink and electric kettle.  Being pregnant, I'm much more worried about the water than ever before!  We've decided to opt for bottled.

I would suggest explaining the situation to your maid and asking her to use only bottled water, even for the juice.

    Good luck and congrats!
