Question:

So I know that the Marines have Semper Fi. Does the Navy have anything along those lines?

My boyfriend is in the Navy and I am trying to find something that I can use in an email to him as a closing. I grew up in a Marine family and Semper Fi was always used. So I'm looking for something along those lines for the Navy. Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. Love,

    (your name)

    is always a good closing....

But there is no set motto for the Navy.

if you want something better than "Anchors Aweigh"

    then use this:

"Non sibi sed patriae" (Not self but country)

Thats a unoffical motto they used WAY back in the day and is still affiliated with the Navy.

  2. Anchors away.

  3. Try,

    Never Again Volunteer Yourself

    or

    BOHICA

(bend over, here it comes again).

    P.S.

    Seriously.

Wishing someone "Fair winds and following seas"  is a traditional Navy closing that wishes someone well.

He'll know what you are talking about.

  4. Fair winds and following seas.

  5. yea.....he might like.."drown the infidels!"

  6. tell you boyfriend to say that he wants the top bunk, that way he'll still be your boyfriend and not your girlfriend!!!! HAHAHAHA

  7. according to both my father (long retired) and several friends that are still in -

    'where's my d*mn coffee?'

seems to be the drink of choice for Navy as opposed to Army which seems to be addicted to energy drinks.  Makes me wonder what Air Force drinks.

  8. The "official" motto of the US Navy is "Semper Fortis" or "Always Strong/Solid."  This said, they very rarely use the official motto, and most Navy folks won't even know it.

  9. Semper Fortis.

  10. "Don't tread on me"
