6 weeks pregnant and started bleeding this morning, shall I just let it run its course as its so early into the pregnancy. I hardly need a D+C. I was only planning to see my doc for the first time next week. The cramping is quite bad as is the bleeding but I dont need more than a pad. No clots though and I had a positive pregnancy test an hour ago. I have 2 little boys already and this is the first time I have ever experienced this.

What next......I am gutted! We really wanted this!! =0(

  1. You should definitely go and see your doctor, and also find out from him/her when you can try again.

  2. You should try to reschedule your appointment with your doc.  There can be complications from the miscarriage and it'd be best to get everything checked out since that can have implications for further pregnancies.

Take a nice long bath for the cramps and to help you relax.  If the cramping or bleeding gets any worse, go to the hospital.  Try to rest as much as you can and ring the doc first thing in the morning.

I'm sorry your going through this.  I've never gone through it by my best friend miscarried twice, but then she had beautiful twin boys.  Maybe next time will work out.

    *hugs*

  3. i was in this situation on friday morning. bleeding but got a positive test still. i went to my doctor who sent me to my EPAU (early pregnancy assesment unit) they did a scan and a transvaginal ultrasound because they could not see the sac. i was only 4weeks 6 days but it still hurts. this was our first baby. i had blood taken and my levels had dropped so i had misscarried. if i were you i would go to the hospital or phone your GP for advise but theres not a lot that can be done. the thing that helped me is that my partner said "its easier for it to happen at 5 weeks than 20 weeks" which is ttrue. nature is cruel but theres nothing we can do apart from let it take its course. fingers crossed that next month will be our month for good.

  4. You need to get a blood test at this point and then a re-test in a week or so.  This will tell you if your hormone count is going down rather than up - a decrease will show you are miscarrying.

Optimistically this could be straightforward implantation bleeding or cervical erosion (have you had intercourse in last 24 hours?)

I bled with both my successful pregnancies(x2) but had a miscarriage in between.  I lost baby at 6 weeks.  Blood tests showed when my uterus had expelled all it needed to to void the pregnancy.

1 in 3 pregnancies ends in miscarriage and there is nothing you can do to stop it happening.  I didn't bother waiting for a normal period after and I fell pg for 3rd time 6 weeks after m/c bleeding stopped.

    All the best whatever happens

  5. WELL I JUST HAD A MISCARRIAGE 2 WEEKS AGO AND I WAS 8 WEEKS. IT STARTED OFF PINK THEN GOT HEAVIER. I STARTED BLEEDING ON A SAT AND MISCARRIED THAT WED. SO IF ITS RED, THEN DEFIANTLY GO TO YOUR DOCTOR. IF YOU HAVE CRAMPS TO THEN YOU MIGHT BE MISS CARING. SORRY AND I KNOW ITS HARD

  6. no you need to see a dr, to determine if the pregnancy is not either expeled or not progressing. i bled a lot in my first trimester and never miscarried. either way, you will still need a scan to make sure your uterus has expeled everything or it can lead to infection.

im sorry though, i had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks and was far from a pleasant experience.

  7. Girl it could not be a M.C it could be stretching etc...Cntact your GP right away just incase there becomes an infection.. Good Luck

  8. I'm so sorry...I know what it's like. I've had 2 miscarriages myself, one that was natural and one that I needed a d&c (the reason I needed a d&c was that my baby had died at 9 weeks and I found out at 12 weeks, my body just didn't realize it and needed help).

I would still see a doctor, there are just so many things that can happen, and you probably won't need a d&c....but here are some of the reasons to go to a doctor..

#1 it may not be a miscarriage, many people have substantial bleeding during pregnancy for various reasons and it is not always a miscarriage!

#2 if it is a miscarriage you can have it confirmed by having a beta hcg blood draw (with my first miscarriage this is what indicated I had lost my baby, when I started bleeding my hcg was already down to a 7...anything under 5 is not pregnant)

#3 it may be an ectopic (vary dangerous) and some of the signs are bleeding and cramping! and can easily be misdiagnosed as a natural miscarriage when in fact the embryo can continue to grow and rupture your tube causing fertility issues(the loss or damage to your tube) or it can kill you! and no there is not always severe pain involved!

and about the + test, even with a miscarriage you will still get +'s for a while after wards because it can take a few days or weeks (depending on how high your numbers where) for the HCG to get back down to pre-pregnancy levels...

again I'm very sorry you are going throught this but go see a doctor!

  9. Hold your horses! I had bleeding and cramps with my first for 2 weeks! He was born 8 months later! I have had a miscarriage before also, from my experience this is what you need to watch for-

any grey colored chunks- NOT GOOD!

    lots of clots

    dark blood

*It should get worse before its better...with my experience I kept bleeding more and more until I had the grey colored chunks. You should be filling a pad up every hour or two I would think. But I am sure everyone is different...I would say go to the hospital and they can do an ultrasound right then and there and tell you whats going on. I had my miscarriage in the ER. Good luck!

  10. i would recommend seeing the doctor as this may not be a miscarrage bleeding can be common is some women depending on build height weight etc.  also by seeing ur doctor he will advise you on what to do next

    good luck

    sorry if its miscarrage

    keep trying

  11. Sorry to hear. I have been through it twice very sad

  12. You should still visit your nearest A&E department so that they can confirm. You might not think you need a D&C but you cannot be sure so you would be much safer getting checked incase. I am so sorry for your loss and wish you all the best in the future x

  13. i had a miscarriage 3 wks ago, i was 9 wks pregnant but everthing had stopped developing at 5 wks. i did pass clots - some were half the size of the palm of my hand - these were the biggest, they didnt hurt when being passed though. you wont see anything that you can  pinpoint a name too. i think i saw the sac, but cant be sure. i only bled for 7 days and didnt have a d&c. the pain wasnt too bad, but i found i kept crying mainly when adverts for baby milk and nappies etc came on tv. i kept watching our 2yr old and telling my hubby "i cant believe i have lost another one like him" - it is really hard, but you will get through it. im so sorry for your loss. good luck for the future. xx

  14. I feel your pain... I also had a miscarriage on the 8th of August and we have been ttc for 9 months... I was only 5 weeks and had already seen the doctor... You should speak with your doctor just to be sure that everything has passed and if not then you'll need a D+C. I did not have one because I was so early in pregnancy... The bleeding could last anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks.. If you just started bleeding this morning you will probably pass some clots in the next few days but that is also normal. If you are cramping really bad you may need some pain medications... Im sorry for your loss, but good luck in the future...
