Question:

So I think I put to much in my backpack...?

My back really hurts. I know I over load my backpack everyday.

I just bought a new bag, and the straps are already ripping (and I'm not abusive to my bag or anything)

Today for example I had to carry around 4 (pretty big) textbooks, a few binders, a notebook and a few folders.

I don't have a locker, so I can't just put them in there, and I need all that stuff for my classes, I don't just carry around extra stuff.

It was like that last year too. I had a broken locker that didn't open, so I just carried all mu stuff around, and I walked home like a mile too, almost everyday.

Lately my back has been starting to hurt a lot, I've even slept laying on a pillow before, because it hurt. I know it's not good to carry around a heavy backpack, but how serious of damage can I do to my back, and could it be permanent.

Also, how heavy are backpacks supposed to be. Mine was 30 pounds today (I weighted it because I was curious). And if it's in proportion to how much I weigh, I'm about 110.

I'm only 16, I don't want a bad back. :S

  1. 16?

GO to the school counsouler and tell them that you really need a locker! no if, ands, or buts.

Other than that, you seriously need to think about weather or not you NEED them with you at all times. Check with each teacherat the begining of the week and see what days you'll need your books so if there are any days you arent required to bring them you could just leave them at home. Seriously i only went to highschool for 1 year [homeschooled throughout my life] and i needed 4 textbooks 2 binders 2 journals and some folders. and i got by just carrying around my latin book and a about 2 folders .one for paper and handouts and another for homework. oh and a pencil too.

Seriously 30 pounds is too much. I'm between 98 to 100 pounds and i have a hard time picking up 10 to 15 pounds of stuff!
