So I thought of this idea for a store?

To help the environment out.

Basically, it'd be kinda like a grocerie store.

At the front of the store there would be containers

small, extra small, medium, large, extra large, etc

the rest of the store would be of food (and maybe drinks)

basically how it would work is you'd buy a container (of course you could come in and re-use them) and then fill it up with the food product you want.

it would be measured by the pound or whatever weight is appropriate, and voila, no more plastic bags

the point is, we waste SO much plastic and paper on packaging and bags from grocerie stores, and it'd be nice to see a change in that

what do you think?

  1. you should do it.

  2. The nice thing about having your own shopping bags is that you can use them in all sorts of stores.

It might be hard to come up with a common price for a pound of sirloin and a pound of rice.

But I like the fact that you are thinking of was to conserve.  Keep it up.

  3. In Ontario and possibly Canada there are stores called Bulk Barn this is already done you can bring in your own containers they weigh them and you place your food stuffs into the preweighed containers. They carry everything from almond butter to dried potato flakes to candy, another store like this is Johnvince Foods and I'm sure there are others but look into it if the need is there they will come and spend

  4. Interesting idea but you are a few decades too late.  They exist already and are called "Bulk rate stores".  Costco is an example.  There are smaller stores that sell dry goods in bulk but few people want to shop there because people stick their hands in the bins and sneeze all over the place.  Bulk (unpackaged) is also a good way to spread disease.
