Would it make a good pet?

Could I go to school during the day without worrying

about feeding if I feed it morning and night?

Do they go to the bathroom a lot in the cage?

Will it be okay to have it because I have

2 cats and 2 dogs?

Do you have any links to a website

that shows how to care for a love bird?

Do you own a love bird?

Please answer, thanks! (:

  1. Well, it really depends... what are you looking for in a bird?

You see, lovebirds have a sort of a bad rap, but they're very, very affectionate and cuddly. But be warned, they can be loud and aggressive sometimes, and they are like little attention "sponges". ^.^

Um, sure, it would probably be okay as long as you had a cup filled with fresh food and water every day. It can feed itself, you know. But you should be prepared to refresh the lovie's water a couple of times a day, and the food daily.

Well... I don't really know how long you will have it outside or in the cage, but it generally poops every 15 minutes.

I don't really know, but I do know that many lovebirds are extremely aggressive. But I guess that really depends on the bird. You could always keep your lovebird away from them in a separate room, or you could train your current pets to accept the lovie, trust me, I've seen many, many, many videos of lovebirds living fine with a cat or dog, but be warned, mammal saliva is poison to a parrot, so just be sure to keep the other pets' chompers off of him!

Here's a good website if you would be interested in it: http://www.avianweb.com/training.html

Just scroll down if you're interested.

Well, I have a few, but I would personally think you'd like it if you watched this youtube owner's vids: http://www.youtube.com/user/stargazrt4?o...

They are like, THE professionals of lovebird care on youtube. They're amazing, and if you like lovebirds and their adorably cute antics, this is like eye candy for you. Plus, they've also got some VERY valuable info like what to feed it and how much, their own blogspot goes into that valuable info even more, and you can even call them or email them questions if you need!

    Their blogspot: http://www.trueloveaviary.blogspot.com/

Well, other than that, there are a few:

This one has all sorts of neat info you might need for your lovie, as well as some general info of lovebirds and their history and other things.

This website has a ton of good info too, but trust me, you'll probably enjoy going to watch the youtube vids more than reading. I know I do! ^_^

Yep, I do own a lovebird, and it looks a heck of a lot like the one type you're describing; a masked lovebird with a blue mutation. They're ADORABLE! Mine's a bit afraid of me right now, but he'll get better. I named him Aspen. ^.^ He's my little booger.

Anyways, I really hope that helped, because blue masked lovebirds are little clowns (Aspen hangs by his beak on the roof of his cage without even using his feet, he's my little acrobat.), and you sound like the concerned and knowledgeable owner ready for one!

    God bless, and good luck!

  2. Alrighty.. If you want a love bird to bond with you. Then only get one. If you want to watch it bond with another. Get two. Just keep a bowl of food and water in it's cage and you won't have to worry about feeding it constantly. They love to play. You don't have to give it bird toys. We got most of our toys at the dollar store (beaded necklace, dog toy, tambourine). It will be fine with your other pets. I had two dogs. They will be interested with the bird. Just be careful. Something you'll have to think about is if you want the wings to be clipped on it every so often so it won't be able to fly but then they grow back and you can do it again. OR you can keep them the same and it can fly. They are sooo interesting to watch and very entertaining. I had a love bird. Only one. Contact me for any more information if you need it. Hope this helps.

  3. I own a Lovebird so I will answer your question...

    Yes.If you handle it daily.

I do and my bird is fine (8hrs. just try and socialize with it at least 15min. a day) usually bird bowls are big and food should last like two days (as long as there are still non eaten seeds)...but water needs to be changed morning and night.

    Umm...YEAH!!!

If you don't let it fly around with the cats and dogs in the same room.
