well i don't know how far you are willing to travel but in New York, Alvin Ailey is the best dance company I can think of. They do every kind of dance, including some i had never heard of until I went there. They have classes you can try to see if you like it. I loved it!!!

You can audition in many, many places.  The question you will have to answer is where are you willing to go and what do you want to do.  Every city has interesting dance companies.  Perhaps you are more interested in a touring company.

You are going to have to track who is doing auditions AND which companies are doing choreographies of interest to you.  I keep track of dance companies by reading the The New York Times reviews, just to see what is going on there.

But I'm a Canadian and the one thing I know here is that funding is always a major issue so you may want to research the finances before you grand jete, yes? Still, you might find something on this side of the border.
