I'm not saying wearing a different colour jersey will change their game, I just think that its a shame, they're the All Blacks, the black jersey's a big of what and who they are. And, yes I know they've worn different strips in past test matches . . . but this is the world cup and goddamn its just wrong! Thoughts anyone?

  1. I reckon it would be a refreshing sight to see em in their new away strip for the first time.

  2. That's a shame, since I am going to this match with my ALL BLACKS top on (the black one, obviously).

  3. Scotland want to wear dark blue so it is harder to see the bruises the All Blacks are going to leave them with. The kiwis are going to smash them!!!

  4. not too bad I guess,at least it would be cooler to wear, colour doest matter we know who we are . THE ALL BLACKS

  5. The all black thing is a misreading of a journalists article that referred to them as "All Backs"..So i wouldn't worry about it

I don't understand why nzedders are so d**n pwecious about everything btw.

Why are they more important than everyone else?

Other countries have to change strip all the time..if they are (technically) playing at home and colours clash, they do it out of respect for the opposition.

This is a longer tradition than the allblack jersey.

This is all getting into the realms of absurdity frankly.

    .

  6. It's by no means unusual for our wolves to play in sheep's clothing.  And the rules about it have been around World Cups for yonks.   It wont stop us from scalping them!.

  7. It isn't an issue at all, IRB rules, Scotland wear their colours.

  8. Scotland are the host team for this game and they reserve the right to wear their darker jersey, forcing us to wear our alternative strip.

That is fair enough and I don't think it is a big deal. Sure the All Blacks are the All Blacks and blah blah blah but Scotland should be able to wear their own jerseys to. Scotland have their own pride, history and prestige in the jersey so why should the All Blacks be favoured over them.

At the end of the day it is only the colour of a jersey for ONE game. Not an issue.

You could go on to argue that the All Blacks have warn their white strip plenty of times when scotland have played games in NZ (e.g 87 RWC, 1996/7 tour?). So the scots are not returning the favour.... but I am not bothered.

  9. New Zealand don't have the God given right to wear Black all the time. If there is a clash of colour then they  should have to sometimes wear their away kit. Why should everyone else bend to their will?

  10. It must be a daunting prospect for any rugby team to play the All Blacks (Black Friday, beware of the black cat, the black plauge, and so on and so forth...).  Wearing their black strip may only make this perception for an opposing team that much more difficult.  Mustering any sought of intestinal fortitude will be made easier for the brave Scots, when the Blacks run out in a grey strip.  However the game will not be all that "black and white for the brave Scots.  The speed, accuracy, and aggression of the Blacks will make it that much harder for the Scots to read the game between the grey lines, or should I say grey shirts!!!!!!

  11. I dont know how wearing a different colour jersey means anything for me itl probably be the most interesting thing for this wc it doesnt change the fact the abs r gonna beat scotland by 50+ i think yous myt find tho that the abs alternative jersey is grey wif a black fern not whitee

  12. i agree they  the  blacks it  the meaning  out  of  their  name and  why  dnt the  scotts  waer  white

  13. I don't think they've ever lost a game wearing a diffirent strip so it won't make a difference, (it will be harder to wash the oppositions bloodstains out of the jerseys though)

The silver fern has more meaning than the colour and black will still run through the All Blacks veins.

  14. Those people who are saying its IRB rules are incorrect!

The home strip for this match was decided by a coin toss which the Scots won.

In most domestic competitions in NZ the home team is the one that has to change strip and that has been the case in previous internationals involving NZ and Scotland.

I have had a look on the IRB website and I can find no rules or regulations regarding this so suppose that previously gentlemens agreements have been made on previous tours and games.

That being said I don't think the change of strip will effect the All Blacks in any way.  we are going to win this World Cup!

  15. Dont matter what colour our boys wear we are going to kick a*rse

  16. I'm an NZer and I don't mind playing in an alternate jersey so please don't group us all in one bunch (to some comments above).

The fern is what counts, and I'm sure the players will feel the same passion and drive playing in a silver jersey as opposed to the black one becuase at the end of the day it still represents our country.

  17. i guess the colour of the jersey doesnt matter, but what you do on the field.....

  18. Cmon, there is an easier solution.  The AB are the AB and will wear THEIR Black shirts.  The Scotts are Scotts and should therefore where kilts in their match.....

Clearly this is the solution to making both teams distinctly visible to both their fans.

  19. Under IRB rules the away team has to play in their secondary strip and that is regardless of whether there a world cup or not. Also the scotland  and all black colours are too similar when playing on the field let alone watching it on the telly hence why they the IRB made the rule in the first place to distinguish team playing colours if they are of similar colours.

I hope this answers your Question and go the All Blacks!

  20. Come On You Bro's, Mates And Ladies Every Team Has To Have A Home And An Away Strip. I'm Not Sure How They Decide Who Wears Which One When Both Are Playing  Away From Home But Much As It Pains Me That NZ Won't Be Wearing Their All Black Strip They Could Be Wearing Sky Blue Pink With Orange Spots And They'll Still Slaughter Scotland. Just As Well They Know The Words To Scotland The Brave Cos They'll Need All The Courage They Have To Face NZ The Invincible All Blacks!

  21. It's no big deal.  "All Blacks" is only a nick name and Scotland probably had their colour well before NZ claimed Black.  What does annoy me though is when a country suddenly changes their colour.  It makes you wonder why, after many years of the traditional blue of France, they suddenly change to a navy blue in a RWC year.  You can only speculate but when the All Blacks were destroying all before them in a record run and the schedule had the possibility of a home team vs worlds best final, it certainly seems "coincidental" that NZ would have to wear an alternate jersey.

Scotland is not an issue, we have always worn our other jersey against them and it's actually an occassion to look forward to, France on the other hand... a bit dodgy lads... better pull up your socks or you will be seeing that alternate jersey in the QF in Cardiff and then go crying back to France.

  22. I think the All Blacks have earn't the right to play in any away strip, personally i'd like to see them in white with a silver fern. If Scotland "the Brave" are so tough why dont they show it ? You see the smaller teams hold the All Blacks in awe and want the whole visual experience, apart from us Aussies !

  23. What does it matter? Someones got to change, sometimes its us, sometimes its the other team. We will still smash them...even if we were in pink!

  24. Of course its a shame that the ABs cant wear their National

Colour, unfortunately the the IRB had a meeting for all Countries managers to sort out this Jersey issue, and it was decided by a coin toss. Would you believe it our fellow lost every coin toss, which means the Abs have to change everytime they come up against a similiar colour jersey.

However there is a silver lining in all this, last time we lost the coin toss for a jersey change was 1987.

Hopefully silver, or Black it will still be an AB win all the way.

Now those are the kind of coin tosses i can live with!

  25. Making concessions for others with out any fuss or noise is the mark of a world champion. Fact is the ABs will be stoked to play regardless of having to play in the alternate strip. Traditionally the alternate strip has been white, but apparently they will be playing in gray / silver with a black fern. Can't really beat the black jumper - ominous - but quite interested to see the new strip.
