So I was on my way to school when my car broke down on the side of the road, I was freak 'en out becauseI was going to be late for this Weekend class I paid $20.00 to take. Well there I sat with this dead car, so I called my friend and she called a tow truck and had it towed to her brothers Garage he works at. So I take a cab to the class and her brother goes in and looks at the car. He spent about an hour looking it over and calls me and says

"Its out of gas" So I was all "just put some gas in it and I will pick it up tonight" then he says that he will have to charge me for looking at it and the Tow Bill. Of course I was all "An hour to tell me it was out of gas?" Please.. he is supposed to be a mechanic and it took him an hour. I don't think so. So I pick up the car because he left it out for me. And now he is calling me all the time now trying to get paid. I told him I was going to call the Attorney Generals and look into this price gouging! Am I Right or what ?

  1. The fact is, you got it towed to a business.  If you had asked your friend's brother to check it out privately, then that would be a different story.  Yes he checked it out, but on company time.

Always remember, KISS.. Keep It Simple, Stupid..  I work as a fleet mechanic.  If something dies on the road, it could be a number of things..

    Alts not charging the batteries,

check engine light comes on and the unit shuts down, etc.

As a mechanic, we assume the unit had enough fuel before it left (again, I work for a fleet where every unit gets washed and fuelled before entering the shop) but that gives you an idea of what we check.

But as far as I'm concerned, pay your bill, as it was the company that you're paying and not your friends brother..

  2. pay the bill jack@ss and next time buy some gas.

  3. nope you should pay the bill because after all you ran out of gas and you asked for a service you should pay

  4. It would be cheaper to pay the bill...   Most states have "Mechanic Liens", so that mechanics can recover their bills if the owner doesnt pay or writes a bad check or something. This lien allows them to reposses your car and sell it to settle the bill if the owner doesnt make good on the bill, the court costs and the attorney fees....   cheaper to pay for the service you requested.   Also, the A.G. would possibly press charges against YOU for theft of services.

my 2 cents worth- pay the bill.

  5. The mechanics bill was probably more than the gas he put in.Whenever they see a woman coming they charge you more than the cars worth.

  6. pay the bill and check your gas r****d he probably thought you had already checked the gas cause most people would have

    i hate dumb people
