  1. Real NYC food experiences?

Barney Greengrass for breakfast. The LEO is the best in the city.

Burger Joint in the Parker Meridien Hotel for .....burgers!

NYC street food? ... gotta go to Grey's Papaya for the recession special.

    China town institution - Wo-Hop. (insider's trick...eat downstairs).

    Nice dinners:

Vong - Jean Georges with just the right mix of fun and fancy.

Nobu - others are trying to get there but at the end of the day their Miso Cod and sushi are still #1.

Calle Ocho - this is still one of the most interesting spaces I have ever eaten in. And the food is pretty great.

Peter Lugar's - if you gotta have a steak...then you gotta leave Manhattan.

  2. Gramercy Tavern - One of the Best Dining Experiences in NYC.

    Old School favorites: 21 Club

    Pizza - Lombardi's

Old School Steak: Peter Luger's, Wolfgang's, Bobby Van's

Hot Dogs: Papaya King (86th and 3rd)

Chain salad and sandwich shop: Europa Cafe

    Cheesesteaks: Carl's Steaks

    This is a good start

  3. I just got back from visiting NYC for the first time.  We tried to eat some place different every meal.  My wife took me to this tiny whole in the wall Thai food restaurant called Joya in Brooklyn.  It was amazing....some of the best food I've ever eaten.  You could tell that it was only locals (it was pretty far from any tourist spots) and there wasn't even a sign outside.  We found the address by Googling it, and after that it was pretty easy to find.  It's a nice restaurant, but not fancy and not expensive.  My wife and I ate a meal with drinks and appetizers for around $40.

I really can't recommend it enough.  After you google it, read the reviews and you'll see that I'm not in the minority by loving it.  Definitely go a little out of your way and make the trip (we went after spending a day at the New York Aquarium and Coney Island).

  4. if you like spanish food go to a place called Sofrito its in manhattan in the 50's on the east side and if you really want to go all out. You have to go to Mr. Chow's no menu the chef creates a different one every night. The food is to die for (Asian)

  5. In the Village you can try a good Italian Restaurant

    Villa Mosconi

    Their website:
