  1. Umm... Since I'm from Puerto Rico, I know the sun is very strong all the time, and mostly in the summer. If you're going to the beach, you must use about 20-50 SPF, because the sun's rays can be damaging, you might get burned if you don't use it and very badly. Still, you will ge tan. For better tanning and health results, I would recommend a 30 SPF. Good Luck! I'm pretty sure my advice is OK LOL!

  2. first off all u shouldnt be going to pr cauze dthe dominican republic has more adventurous things to do and better beaches and conditions...duh

  3. The sun is serious here.  Without sunscreen, you will burn in 15 mins.

So you are correct in worrying about having enough.  The exact SPF number is not as important as  applying enough, early enough and often enough.

    We usually use 30-45.

  4. I recommend a very high SPF because we`re a lot closer to the Equator, especially if your skin color is very white. Try a 45 SPF and go in and out of the water at the beach frequently. Then, instead of drying yourself with a towel, lay down and let the sun dry your skin. Please, be very carefull about getting a sunburn because your skin type is very susceptible to a bad burn. Also don`t expose yourself to the sun for a long period of time, try about 2 hours in the sun and about 30 minutes in the shade. Stay out of the sun from around 10am until 2pm, that`s when the sun is hottest, not only to avoid getting your skin burned but also to avoid a heat stroke. Another thing don`t let a cloudy day fool you into not wearing a sunblock, believe me it has happened to me, you will get burned, so try a lower SPF, maybe a 25 or the closest to 25. As you start to tan try lowering the SPF, remember that it depends on how dark your tan becomes. Also use a good SPF, about 30, whenever you go out in the sun, like walking or sightseeing. Try to get some Aloe lotion and use it after tanning and frequently, it helps your skin heal from the sun heat and makes your skin soft and hydrated. I hope my recommendations will help you. Have a good time and welcome to the island.
