So-Jung Kim, Xinyun Han move into second round –Beijing International Challenger 2011
Korean tennis pro So Jung Kim thrashed out Wang-Ting Liu 6-2, 6-1 on Tuesday to book his place in the second round of 2011 Beijing International Challengers tournament here in Beijing, China. Kim adopted
a very aggressive and attacking approach in the match not allowing his opponent to breath in a match that lasted for only 59 minutes on the hard courts Beijing Tennis centre.
Kim made a very confident start to the match as he earned few big points early in the opening set to dent her opponent’s confidence levels. Breaking the serve twice in the set, she took a crucial 5-1 lead,
serving for the match. However at that stage, Liu lifted her spirits and broke back once to reduce her opponent’s game score advantage to 5-2.
Kim concentrated on her own game play and broke the Chinese for the third times in the set to take the set score lead 1-0.
The second set also followed a pretty similar trend with the Korean tennis player dominating all aspects of the game. Breaking the serve at regular intervals, she raced to an impassable 5-1 lead and she held
on to her service games without any problem what so ever to complete her straight sets victory.
Hitting an impressive 50 per cent first serve, she created all sorts of problems for her opponent with her accurate and powerful serving. She also had a great defensive strategy against her opponent as she
saved several important points in the match.
Liu, on the other hand, paid the heavy price for her weak serves. She also had no defensive plan as she conceded six out of seven break points in the match. She will be hoping to restore some of the lost
pride, when she returns to the tour.
Meanwhile, number six seed Xinyun Han battled past Chiaki Okadaue 6-3, 6-4 in a competitive match to move ahead at the ITF tournament.
Han played the big points really well under pressure and converted the very first match point to seal victory.
