What do you New South Welsh think of your State Government? (before and after Iemma's resignation).

Have Nathan Rees and Carmel Tebbut got what it takes? or is NSW Labor a lost cause?

[FYI: I was born in Qld and live in Victoria, and no, neither of these states has anything to boast about politically!]

  1. Personally, I think Morris was weighing us down with his mostly incompetent staff and I just shrugged with despair every time I heard about a new blunder they had committed.

I don't know anything about the new Premier, but as a Labor supporter since I was old enough to vote, I hope he can perform miracles. He has his work cut out for him and a lot of traditional Labor supporters like myself are disillusioned about the direction of the Party.

The Liberals have nothing to be smug about, we're still paying for their mistakes at a Federal level.

  2. bbiways, don't be such a silly class snob - Nathan Rees is not a garbage collector. He did that job part time while doing his English literature degree many years ago, before his political career.

He still sounds like a total bogan when he opens his mouth, though. lol

  3. Same old, same old.

  4. I celebrated Iemma's resignation with vodka. ^_^

And when it comes to a new Premier, all I can say is, same ****, different leaders. So, no they won't change, it's a lost cause for them and for the next state election. They have more than 13 years to fix this state and nothing has improved at all, all I have seen from most of my life is that it has gone backwards while other states are booming (except tourism) Labor is in the hole now, I'm glad. I just look at N.S.W and think to myself...why am I still living here, might as well live in a cave until Labor is out of government.

Liberals will win the next election...woo!

  5. Carmel Tebbut is a great woman, very strong and savvy ... about Nathan I know next to nothing!

I have to say I always felt poor old Morris was handed a bundle of trouble when he came into office, and was just not quick enough on his feet with the media etc to dance around it.

You know us NSWelsh men and women, and Sydney siders particularly, we love to see someone playing the game with skill and style and will keep electing them just to watch ~ hence Bob Carr, Nifty Neville Wran and Bob Askin's various reigns.

Morris seemed like an honest and sincere chap who enterd the bear pit (that's the nickname for the NSW lower house) without his whip! Totally out of his depth and couldn't gain traction.

If Nathan Res is what he says he is ~ a hard headed working class boy with a stiff broom and a strong hand, he might be OK.

My biggest fear is that he won't have time to make any headwat before the next ballot, and O'farrell and his crowd will sneak in.

The NSW Libs are stacked to the rafters with xian fundamentalists and hard line right wing 'sell your mother for sixpence' types, of the kind who don't mind letterboxing racist pamphlets at Federal election time if only it gets their own folks in.

O'Farrell is the most presentable of the bunch and he's a half wit whose greatest accomplishment to date has been to vite against the power sell off then go on tv and say 'as soon as we get into power, we'll sell it, we just don't want them to have the money'. Ummm, good one Bazza.

Hmmmm, I think I'm sounding a teensy bit cynical ...

And PLEASE don't worry about being from QLD or VIC and having a go at NSW pollies. What do you think we do after we've finished dissecting our own, lol ;-P

Enjoy the fun while it last ~ the coming weeks should bring some fireworks, lol! :-)

  6. Both the National and State governments had been flipped on their head lately. I'll see how this new premier goes, neither party has anything to brag about. I haven't heard very much about any of the new Labour party members, they don't sound like they have very much experience at all. And I have this gut feeling that I will actually be voting Liberal next election. I'm not the type of person who only backs one party, it usually comes down to the day for me to decide. But hey that's just me.

  7. Same horse different Jockey, Costa will go soon, Tebbut failed in her school portfolio, Rees got the job because he is a unknown as iemma was and Carr before him, no bad press before getting the job. Rees is a rubbish collector will that quips him to run a state I think not
