  1. If they asked you to perform, you must be good. And if you make up your own routines, you have the creativity, too. Flaunt it, Lady, even if you dont know what you got.

  2. Wow, congratulations on that.  Good job.♥

Honestly, the best thing you can do for yourself is have confidence.  Get together with your friend and come up with what sort of hip hop you want to do -- a slow dance, a move one, or a fast and furious kind of genre.  I suggest, in the actual dance, you dance in unison for parts of it and do your own thing in parts of it.  Unison hip hop dancing is so attractive and looks so put together in the eyes of an unprofessional, the audience will love it.  Also, you want time to shine in the spotlight in your dance.  Have solos or something.

I've been choreographing dances for a while, and have a couple pointers for you (although, since you've done this before, you may or may not need them).

    MAKE IT CLEAN.

Don't mess around with too many steps.  The worst thing you can see with choreography is that the teacher couldn't decide if they wanted this or this in their dance, so decided to add both.  Don't add too many steps and make it look frantic, or your audience will lose respect for your choreography and technique.

    HAVE A REOCCURRING THEME.

The choreography should link together, usually through a series of steps.  Sometimes, the choreographer links the dance and the chorus to link the dance together.  In other words, they have kind of a "chorus" with the steps that the dancers do every time there is a chorus, and then have the steps differ with the verses.

    KNOW THE MUSIC.

Listen to the music as you choreograph; don't choreograph something that doesn't go with the music, or it will be hard to understand it to the audience and hard to do it exactly at the same time every time you perform or practice the dance.  This way, you can get behind in the music and probably never be able to catch up, which is bad.  You don't want to still be dancing after the music ends!

    HAVE CONFIDENCE.

Don't choreograph something simple because you're doubting your ability to perform it.  If you can do it 10 times in a row, and do it every day, not just once, you can do it in the choreography.  However, in the dance, if you keep slipping up on that step, you might want to change it to something simpler or that goes with they music easily.

If this is too much to handle, which it sometimes is, I would suggest getting a choreographer.  They have most probably taken courses in high school and college about dance aesthetics and choreography, and they know how to apply all of that and make a great dance for you.

Hopefully I have satisfactorily answered your question.  Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.♥

  3. WHAT MOVIES LIKE STEP UP 1 AND 2

  4. If you were asked to perform, someone had confidence in your ability. Now you need to have that same confidence and self assurance. Knowing that you are good at what you do will show in your performance. Work out the details of your routine so it is smooth - Know what your are doing. You will do great.
