So You Think sets his sights on the Tattersalls Gold Cup to win it for the second time in a row
Trainer Aidan O’Brien is looking forward to the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup, which is due to take place on 27th May, 2012, at Curragh.
Await The Dawn, Robin Hood, So You Think, St Nicholas Abbey, Treasure Beach and Windsor Palace will be taking the 1 mile, 2 furlong and 110 yard track in order to bag the victory in the prestigious event.
Among these runners, So You Think, seems to be the one to look out for, and will be tough to beat considering he aced this event last year, on 22nd May, 2011, when he raced as a favourite with a winning shot of 1 to 7, and defeated
the Saeed Bin Suroor trained, Campanologist, by 4 ½ lengths.
The six-year-old horse faced a setback after this, but will definitely be looking to defend his title in this race.
The D. Smith, Mrs. J. Magnier, and M. Tabor owned bay horse finished fourth in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline at Meydan on 31st
March, 2012, but will be stepping it up in this event.
The talented runner also emerged victorious from the Group 1 Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on 3rd September, 2011, where under rider Seamie Heffernan’s command; he notched the victory, half-length before Snow
Fairy.
Await The Dawn, son of Giant´s Causeway, out of mare Valentine Band, ran a respectable race despite his disappointing fifteenth place finish in the Dubai Duty Free Sponsored By Dubai Duty Free at Meydan this year
The five-year-old’s victory in the Hardwicke Stakes at Ascot cannot be forgotten as he might enter this race with the same motivation where he was paired with rider, Ryan Moore, and he trumped the race as he landed 3 lengths before Harris Tweed.
St Nicholas Abbey, owned by Derrick Smith raced here at his most recent start so he knows the track well.
The five-year-old runner finished as a runner-up in the High Chaparral European Breeders Fund Mooresbridge Stakes on 7th May, 2012, where he missed the victory by 1 length to Windsor Palace.
It seems that A. P O’Brien is running his best runners in this race and he will be watching them closely, but So You Think has the most working in his favour.
