So You Think to make comeback in the Tattersalls Gold Cup Crown at Curragh
A.P O’Brien’s charge So You Think will be looking to redeem himself in the Tattersalls Gold Cup after his disappointing performance in the Dubai World Cup. The Group 1 event will be hosted at the Curragh on 27th May, 2012, where he will take on
four other runners.
The son of High Chaparral, out of mare Triassic, raced as a 5-4 favourite in the Group 1
Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline at Meydan on 31st May, 2012, where he was in the capable hands of jockey, Joseph O’Brien.
Despite his best efforts, the six-year-old horse could not keep up with the competition and finished fourth, 4 lengths behind winner, Monterosso.
Rider Joseph O’Brien, who is the trainer’s son, thinks it time to put that performance behind them and make a comeback as he stated:
"He seems in good form and we just felt he didn't act on the surface in Dubai. We've been happy with him at home, but he has had a little break and this is only his first run back. I'm sure he'll improve, but hopefully he can run a big race."
Famous Name, son of Dansili, out of mare Fame At Last, will be the one to give So You Think a serious run for his money.
He seems to be in extremely good form as he secured sixteen victories in thirty-two starts and this race will give him an opportunity to notch a victory in the Group 1 category.
Teddy Grimthorpe, who is the racing manager for owner K. Abdulla stated that the seven-year-old will not run if the ground doesn’t suit him.
To the press, he stated:
"If it came up quite firm, he probably wouldn't run, but we'll see. It would be great to win a Group One with him, but he's won 16 races and 15 Pattern races. If we had many more like him we'd be pretty happy."
The bay horse landed an impressive victory at Leopardstown when he participated in the Group 3 Amethyst Stakes on 13th May, 2012, and finished 4 ½ lengths before Sweet Lightning.
