So You Think to stay for training and racing next season too
A P O’Brien’s So You Think does have a racing career ahead of him and would continue his training. The five-year-old out of High Chaparral and Triassic has won three Group Ones but in his last race that he ran at Longchamp, he did not really measure up to
the expectations of the connections and the crowds alike, but even then his retirement was not discussed.
Magnier said, "The horse has shown no signs that he is ready to go to stud. You can't take anything away from the horse. In the closing stages he kept fighting. He fought on and on and on. We are disappointed he didn't finish closer, but there is still plenty
of horse to go on with”.
He has posted five straight victories just last year with Steven Arnold onboard and in this season he missed the opportunity of grabbing onto a hat trick not just once rather twice.
After winning the two Curraghs, he gave away at the Ascot, winning which would have entitled him for a hat-trick.
The most recent upsetting performance that he gave at Longchamp yet again drowned his chances of qualifying for a hat trick. This season he raced and won with both Ryan Moore and Seamie Heffernan.
He added, "We think this horse can keep winning these Group One races. The trainer thinks there is a h**l of a lot in the horse's tank. Let's get this season out of the way and I'd say we'd probably continue into next season”.
At Leopardstown, on 3rd September, he chased the leaders in moderate second, improved to lead two furlong out, soon was ridden and strongly pressed but did not let go off the lead rather maintained it and kept on well from 1 ½ furlong out.
Ed Dunlop’s Snow Fairy with Frankie Dettori riding came second and third in line was Famous Name trained by D K Weld and ridden by P J Smullen.
At Sandown on 2nd July, So You Think again started off by tracking down the leading pair, went second over two furlong out, shaken up to close over one furlong out, ran on with determination to lead the last 150 yards and ended the race.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Workforce, the Arc winner was the runner up and Roger Varian’s Sri Putra with Neil Callan was third.
Training during next season is one aspect, he is expected to run at the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot on Saturday which means that So You think is due to make more news this season too.
