So You Think to trounce Famous Name in Tattersalls Gold Cup at Curragh
It should be an easy win for So You Think, who is far superior to Famous Name in the Tattersalls Gold Cup, taking place at Curragh on Sunday, May 27th. The €130,200 contest will be kicked off at 14:35 GMT.
The 1m2f110y event has attracted a few big names. Alongside the aforementioned pair, the line-up includes Bible Belt, Robin Hood and Elusive Ridge.
Bible Belt is returning to action after a long break of more than seven months. In her last appearance at Curragh, the 4-year-old filly was not impressive at all, finishing seventh behind Manieree.
A. P. O'Brien’s charge, Robin Hood, is not in the best of his form these days. In his recent trip at Curragh, the colt failed to end up among top-3 by 2 1/4 lengths in the Group 3 High Chaparral European Breeders Fund Mooresbridge Stakes.
Similarly, Elusive Ridge is currently going through a bad time. The six-year-old has been out of rhythm since winning three back-to-back races at Dundalk in December last year.
The entire line-up is might talented, but the real clash will be between So You Think and Famous Name. The latter has two recent wins under his belt, but the Group 1 contest will be a very difficult task to accomplish.
In his most recent outing, D. K. Weld’s trainee defeated Sweet Lightning by 4½ lengths to win the Group 3 Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown. Despite the fact the he is in good form these days, it is not going to be possible for him to knock down the likes of So You Think, who has taken part in many Group 1 races.
So You Think has a magnificent track record at this venue, as he sealed a couple of emphatic wins last season. A. P. O'Brien’s charge made his seasonal debut at the end of March, when ran in the Dubai World Cup at Meydan.
Despite the fact that wins are not coming to his way regularly, it will be a straightforward outing for the New Zealander. If he manages not to err, no one will be able to match his class at this level. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
