So annoying!!?

Question

Ive got a samsung lcd TV that will only turn off by the plug at the wall....this is really annoying as when im in bed i have to get up to switch the tv off! i also have to pull my drawers out as the plug is behind them! y can u only put ur tv on standby with the remote?i dont like leaving my tv on standby for safety and energy purposes. i do not want to buy a new tv, but are there any ways or gadgets i could use to solve this problem??!!

Yes. You lazy git. You can buy a remote operated plug-in switch that fits between the socket and your tv's plug. Good electrical outlets sell them and maybe DIY stores.

Are you quite sure that there isn't an off switch? In my days of dealing with Hitachi and Samsung, I seem to remember that the switch was in some odd places. Check underneath the TV, where the leads come in, and failing that actually on top of the set. Does your manual tell you a location for an on/off switch? I'm not sure it's legal to sell it without!
