Filipinos are Asians.  We come from the malay race and look a lot like most of the people in the malay nations like Malaysia and Indonesia. But we are pretty mixed up because we were colonized by the Spanish, then the Americans and we had an influx of Chinese.  

However, we are an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, so geographically, you can call us Pacific Islanders.

Filipinos would be considered, in most cases, as Asians.  Usually, basic ethnic groups are only separated as being White, Black, Native American/Hispanic and Asian within anthropology (especially forensic anthropology).  The problem is that outside these main groups there are too small a research sample to make any discriminate functions for other enthnicities reliable (discriminate functions are mathematical formulas used with measurements, usually of the skull, which can help determine both s*x and ethnicity, respectively, of individuals).

They're some of the most mixed up people around, genetically anyway.  Somehow they seem to have taken the best from all sides of the heritage.  They are Asian and Pacific Islanders and some partly descended from the Spanish and from pretty much every other group that has traded there.  There is actually a fairly wide variation in looks between Filipinos of different areas.

Well just so you know, all pacfic islanders actually orginiated in Asia, in Taiwan to be exact...but came via Papua New Guinea.

Filipinos would be Asian with a european and pacific influence I would say...more the european, in being a Spanish based settlement (or is it portuguese?)
