So confused about what can be brought on my plane?

Im flying Delta airlines and they say you can have 1 carry on and 1 personal item

personal items are for example: purses, laptops etc.

i need to take my carry on bag, purse, and laptop...

can i just put my laptop in my carry on bag or purse (so it will only be 1 personal item instead of 2 separate)after they check it to be sure its not a secret bomb or whatever?

ive never flown before sorry if this is stupid...

Yes, You can bring your laptop with you in your bag.  but you can take your purse + your carry on.

i just came back from N.Y through delta. and yes i had the same question. they will ask you to take it out then you just put it back in once they checked it.....no harm done.

Yes, you can put your laptop into your carry on bag and take your purse on too. They will ask you to take your laptop out of the carry on bag, I'm not sure why but they always do.
