I plan to go to London for 7-10 days and how do I buy the cheapest fare card?? This is extremely confusing ..

some say 7 day pass is cheaper, oyster card, travel card??

Please someone just tell me the cheapest way to travel all over the famous London places (sightseeing) by tube.

How should I buy fare card? lol Why does it have to be so complicated.

Thanks!

  1. When my mom comes to visit she has an oyster card and she just puts some money on it and tops up as needed. I did this for a friend when she came to visit also.

  2. WEEKLY TRAVEL CARD YOU CAN USE ON BUSES TRAMS TUBES AND TRAINS OR IF YOUR JUST IN THE CENTRE OF LONDON PROBABLY OYSTER FOR BUSES AND TUBE TRAINS HAVE A GOOD STAY

  3. dont bother buying a travel card everyday because then youll end up spending more.    Oyster single fares are generally cheaper than a single fair without a discount, i think its 90p on the bus with oyster and 2 pounds without it, for the train its 4pounds without an oyster card and 1.50 with it. plus buying the oyster card now costs 3pounds. think about how much travelling you will do, if you get on the bus or train everyday more than once then your better off buying a 7day pass.

  4. Buy an oyster card at a tube station ticket office. tell them you'd like to put some money on it e.g. £10. The oyster card will automatically calculate the cheapest deal, i.e. it won't let you spend more that it would have cost you to get a travel card. If you want to check later how much is on it you find a machine with an LCD screen and touch your oyster card to the yellow circle. Warning - they tell you the deposit for the card is refundable - but good luck trying to get it back!!!!!
