Not as enduring as many other but still a good fight to see how good Haye and to realise how serious he is to hit the big time. Before the fight i just couldn't call it as i've seen them both fight and although i'm no expert its obvious they're great boxers, but to see Haye knock the living daylights out of Macca if was shocking, i was almost feeling sorry for him because he obviously thought he could do the job but ended up on the end of Haye's amazingly powerful punches. I guess Haye is destined for the bigtime whereas Macca will probably try to fight for those belt in the cruiserweight division? Opinions?

  1. i watched it and was a bit gutted it only went 2 rounds i was hoping to see something as good as eubank vs thompson but i suppose the writing was on the cards, they are both big lads so when one lands clean on the others chin it's goodnoght vienna.still would of liked to have seen a bit more though.

  2. Guten Tag.  Blog that means good day.  NO I Did NOt wAtch the FiGHt

  3. haye in heavy weight should be intresting to watch. He was rocked at the start with a left hook from macca so can u imagine jab after jab from klitschko, cant wait to watch his first heavyweight fight. He can punch like an animal but i think his chin is made of egg shells.

  4. a brilliant fight for as long as it lasted. Haye is definitely a Haymaker.

  5. Neither one thought much about defense.  Im trying to figure out a way to describe the difference between boxing styles on either side of the pond.  Very little head movement in the United Kindgom, defense is generated through aggressive punching more than anything else.  Ricky Hatton found out that was a bad idea.

  6. Yeah it didnt quite live up to all the hype but was still exciting if a bit quick. I slightly favoured Haye to win before the fight but had been impressed with Macrenelli of late and thought he had a good chance himself of getting the win. It was a strange fight for me in the sense that i wasent sure who i really wanted to win. As an englishman i should have been more pro Haye but Maccrenelli comes across as a pretty decent bloke so in a way i wanted him to win for that reason alone. But i always have though Haye could be a really big name at heavyweight and im confident he can win a version of the world title and possibly dominate the heavyweight division in years to come. Wheres Macrenelli will always be a cruiserweight and has kind of already reached his peak. I though this would be a dangerous fight for Haye as he has trouble making cruiseweight and Macrenelli could beat him and possibly ruin his potential. So i guess im glad Haye has won as it looks like britain will have a decent heavyweight fighter again. As long as he doesent rush into the big fights too quickly and grows into the weight, i can see him having a good chance of beating any of the current heavyweight champions.

  7. I think that the outcome of the fight was the best thing possible for boxing........let's face it.............for some reason the heavyweights draw more people watching than anyone else with the only exception being De La Hoya........and now there is the chance for Haye to go up into the Heavyweights and make some big time waves.........I am not going predict anything about how he will fare in that division but I do know that him knocking out Maccarinelli like that at least gave a bunch of boxing fans a reason to be excited about the upcoming year in the heavyweight division..........I think everybody that watched that fight last night is going to tune into his first televised Heavyweight fight for that same reason..........even the ones that for crack on his defensive skills.

I also think that he blew out Maccarinelli in just the right amt. of time so that I could change the channel to HBO and watch the Juan Diaz/Nate Campbell fight.........thank you so much rendering the scheduling of both Showtime and HBO meaningless..........I hate when they put two fights I want to see at the same time.

As you can see I'm at the very least interested in following Haye as he tries to jump up to the Heavyweights...........but I must say that the Haye KO was a part of what I personally think was the biggest night in the Heavyweight division in a very very long time..........not only did it get a young, exciting and power punching Cruiserweight but a bit later we found out that Peter has found his power again..........and he can supply some excitement too.

Right now from that display last night Haye is the Heavyweight fighter that I most want to see.........doesn't mean that I think he's the best.......obviously that would be ridiculous since he hasn't fought there yet...........but he's a reason to get excited about a division that has been void of any real excitement for quite a while.

  8. Yeah, I was cheering for Mac but thought Haye would win and he did in pretty spectacular fashion.

I think Mac v Cunningham would be far more competitive.  I'm sure if he still wants anything to do with him, Warren will make it easy for Mac to have a shot at the WBO belt again soon enough.  Not sure where Mac is in the other rankings, but he needs to make his way up those if he wants another shot.

Haye needs to take on someone like Skelton...someone with a good bit of power but no real threat.  All this talk of Wlad is just a bit premature!

Elmer - Your sweeping generalisation illustrates your lack of knowledge and unwarranted hatred of the UK, which is, quite frankly, astounding.  You just summed up Pavlik's approach to boxing and it seems to be doing him reasonably well thus far.  Yes, it didn't work for Hatton against the best fighter in the world today, but has worked against everyone else he's fought.  What is your problem, son?

  9. I thought the fight could go either way, but i was leaning towards Enzo before.

Haye was very impressive, if he fights like that, he can take any of the heavies out there.

Enzo left his chin in the air, and didnt force the fight, he had to try and force it as Haye was the better boxer and faster too.

I think Enzo can come back and dominate the cruiser division, as for Haye, watch out KLlitchko!

  10. I was shocked at Big Macs performance. I've seen some of his fights before and he is a powerful boxer but on the night he just looked scared. A couple of feeble jabs and followed up with nothing and Hayes shots were breaking through Macca's defence! They were both leaning and it was altogether not a very entertaining fight.

Hayes definitely deserved to win and I was very impressed with his performance. Considering there's no great heavyweights out there at the minute I think Hayes has a good chance.

It shows Hayes put in a tremendous amount of effort with his training but I was concerned with the extra weight in terms of excess muscle I thought it'd slow him down and turn against him in the later rounds...luckily it didn't get that far.

Roll on the 22nd March and the 12th April for the Witter fight and Clinton Woods (not against each other obviously)! And not forgetting the Calzaghe fight on the 19th April!

  11. it looked to me like the school bully gonna work on the fat kid, absolute farce and I for one am not impressed by Haye demolishing a pudding like Enzo,my old man would stand a chance against him,and to think people are talking of Haye fighting Klitchco, easy night for the Russian if he does,I'm again embarrassed by British boxing and Warren's bum of the month competition!

  12. Enzo walked into a straight right with his guard down.Haye realised it was time to put pressure on him. He got caught again and went onto the ropes. Got hit by a few combos in the corner and then went down. He got up to fast and ended up wobbling around. The ref stopped the match on the 8th count. It was gonna be a 50/50 match. Both of them were big punchers. I guess Haye was the better man in that match.

  13. fight could have gone either way both big punchers and both have suspect chins, haye stepping up to heavyweight for the glory and might succeed just because the heavyweight division now is so poor but against guys that  are used to getting hit by the biggest guys maybe he will struggle to knock them out with a single punch and  if he comes up against a heavyweight with a good chin then the longer the fights go on the more he will struggle with stamina. dont forget he said himself he was struggling to make cruiserweight and the extra weight will slow him down. as for macca no doubt he,ll win one of the belts back
